2011 Mustangs Dominate in 1st and 2nd

We don't seem to ever talk about Mustangs around here, but the 2011's really seem to be something taking 1st and 2nd at MIS.

These two might have some additional equipment installed.

Frankly, the Ford's are sandbagging a bit so as not get kicked out, their new motor really really kicks. They are the motor to beat this year. Also, that is a pretty far cry from a Mustang!!!

I live near the NASCAR capitol.

BeyGon 06-18-2011 02:18 PM

Other than they have to call that car something, what does it have to do with a Mustang.

Heh heh... no joke. That is analogous to putting a big Corvette decal on the bumpers of my Caprice and... that is just so wrong.

Ya just gotta know I'm smiling a bit here...:D

Well, it does have a V8 driving the rear wheels and a live rear axle at that. It's marketing, so you get to call it something folks can recognize. Most folks can't tell one car from another anyway, right?
Remember a few years ago when the Ford NASCAR racer was the Taurus?
Yeah, right!

It's still the "Fusion" in the Cup series.

Heel n Toe 06-18-2011 03:10 PM

And don't forget the IMSA Ford "Probe." :)

Let's just say Ford supports more than one type of racing, okay?

fred cook 06-19-2011 04:02 AM

I lost interest in Nascar.....

when they brought out the "Car of Tomorrow" or COT. It would not bother me at all if Nascar just dried up and disappeared. I would like to see the Can-Am and Trans-Am series come back. Now those were some great racing series!

Buckterrier 06-19-2011 05:34 AM

It's a Ford car, that's it.

YUP!

bad news is that the trans-am cars from the '90's forward all shared the same chassis,gearbox,a-arms,spindles, driveshafts & rear-ends,

The bodies and engines got the change

URY914 06-20-2011 02:59 AM

Now THIS is a racing Mustang...

You're right. That's definitely the Mulsanne Straight at Lemans.

A Mustang is pictured. The background is irrelevant.

Parnelli won @ Laguna Seca...thus the current "Laguna Seca" version of the Boss 302. This car looks like that one. The current "Laguna Seca" lives up to it's namesake. It is much faster around Laguna Seca than the BMW M3.
