After seeing the initial ads for it, I decided it looked too dark and I didn't want to give it a chance, but I decided to watch those two episodes they ran that first night.

I'm ensnared, too. Very well done. Dark, but not oppressive. Excellent writing.

I can't remember if they've had even one scene that is not overcast and/or raining. That really adds to the dark feel.

BTW, it's on AMC, not A&E.

Its terrific.

Great show. A very fresh take on a genre which is compelling but tough to be new in.

Not to be disparaging of this great country of ours but if you notice the credits this is a re make of a Scandinavian series (I think Danish). All the execs from the original version are involved, and its shows in both the visual and written tone. I think the major networks need to look at why they are loosing ground, particularly in terms of drama, and stop dumbing down. Of course AMC could afford a flop because Mad Men has been and continues to be so successful.

I heard a good review of it on the radio and have been recording it. It's excellent. Incredible depth, excellent unknown actors, especially the lead.

I thought that teacher was toast. Can't wait to see what's happening in that meat locker...

Season finale wad a bit if a let down. I do like the show.

It's an American remake of a Swiss (or one of those small fjord countries) series.

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole season, except for the episode that was dedicated to Linden's son. Looks like the mayor paid Holder to frame councilman Richmond? I don't see how that works out well for Holder.

This is indeed based on Danish story Forbrydelsen which was quite a compelling TV,
I think if you take it episode at a time and try not to look too much at the story
I'm told the AMC version works as well,

In the UK we have seen a handful of detective stories from Scandinavia
the best of which is Wallander (but not the Kenneth Branagh version)
