painted alloy wheel repair

Anybody ever do an at home repair of road rashed painted aluminum rims? I was thinking J B Weld and a repaint? Not on my 911 just an old Audi TT. Suggestions anyone?

Back yard or home repair? Maybe it's just a difference in semantics with the same intent.

If it's merely surface blems and you're aren't able to handle the project, I would suggest taking to a wheel repair shop and have them fix it (add or subtract metal), then repaint.

If structural, I wouldn't hide it, but deal with it properly (repair or trash it). It could cost you down the road in liability or bite you or loved one in the butt.

I have done it on my PD's. Used a metal based bondo type stuff. Looked ok after being repainted. Not sure how long it will last though. Only have a few thousand miles on it.
