Gold Fillings

Found a handful at my parent's house when we cleaned it out. Can anyone offer advice on how best to sell it and what to expect?

There are people that go to local dental offices and buy old crowns. Talk to your dentist and see if you can get a name.

FYI. It's illegal to sell teeth from crematoriums.... If it's in the body when they die, it's a part of them and have to be buried with it.

My Dad was a Dentist. He said most 'gold' was usually an alloy. Only very old gold was real gold. By the time the impurities were burned off, it was a wash. He always had a drawer full of removed stuff.

Be careful who you tell that you have some. People do stupid stuff for 'gold'.

I recently recieved my fathers coin collection. In amongst everything was a 35mm film jar with several gold crowned molars and some loose gold fillings. No one has any idea who or when these came from.

I remember when I was a kid, this old guy took a jar full of gold teeth to us and wanted to use it to make a ring for his wife. We send him on his way. first, they are not pure and has a lot of alloy in it. If our assayer see us coming with that jar, he send us on our way. Gross.

I'm thinking you're talking about (yellow) gold crowns. Nominally they are 16kt. I can get about $28/gram for them. I usually pay less than that, unless it's some type of kin folk deal.

The dentists that I know recommend you send your old gold to Garfield and provide the shipping stuff.

Try this (turn sound off) and request their shipping "kit"
Garfield Gold Exchange-We buy Gold
