Interesting WW2 vet today
Have a patient today, he was born in 1919 and served as a gunner in WW II. He was on the island that the Enola Gay departed from on its way to drop the A bomb. He flew on many subsequent missions to help the POWs on the surrounding islands.
When I thanked him for his service, he teared up, I teared up and he said he wished I could thank those that didn't make it back. He stated that he didn't do anything heroic but just what was asked. Many thanks to all our Vets, Salute. |
Nice story.

I saw a man a few months ago, He had his vet hat on.
WWII, Korea & Viet Nam. I stopped and talked with him and his wife of 50+ years. I hope that he's writting down his stories. |

I met Don years ago in a bookstore at an airport. Real nice guy. I told him my Dad fought in WWII as well and we talked about the 102nd Ozark. He knew of them and the fact that they had to hand over Berlin to the Russians at the time due to politics. He gave me one of his books and wrote a note to my Dad. Neat guy. Product of the greatest generation...

Don is kneeling at the grave of his buddy Skip Muck in this print by Valor Studios...I have the print hanging here. It contains only two autographs...The artist and Don.
Soon enough, they will be united again... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1309547002.jpg |
He was a pretty cool cat way back when I was in college. Always thought he owned that place, he was there every time I went in.
if this happened at VA Houston, my father in law ran the flooring crew when they built it, pretty much all the buildings at the medical center too. |
