#^$&% &#*@ Half Dome Permit System
#^*% $()#& @))$&@&# B #^$^ @#&@ $^* ^@^(!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every friggin' year I do Half Dome. I usually go in late Sept. or early Oct. I start in the dark and am usually one of the first up the cables. I spend three minutes on top and head back down. Crowds have NEVER been an issue. Sometimes I am the only one on top and at most there might be ten others. Now, you have to have a permit. ALL %$^@&#$#&^ permits for the year are reserved. Permits for October (400 per day for 11 days=4400) were up for sale this a.m at 7:00 and are all gone. There is no friggin' way all these permits were reserved by people with firm plans to make the hike. The permits cost $1.50 and it is illegal to sell them. I hate everybody. I'm gonna go ding someone's door. |

I suppose this means our hike for the year is off... |
No permits needed to go up the front side.

I love Yosemite... but it has got so crowded I haven't been in years.
I feel you pain. I will brake check a random person on the way home in your honor. |
Did you see this?
"Permits are not available in the park or on a first-come, first-served basis. However, any canceled permits may be available until midnight the evening before the hiking day through Recreation.gov. If you have a permit that you won't use, please cancel it so others may use it. (You may cancel your permit as late as midnight the evening before the hiking day.)" |
Yeah, I saw that, Scott. But you know what? People are too ^$%#& ^$* ^$ stupid and %#$@^&^%# lazy and %#^#*^&# selfish to actually cancel them. I just saw an ad on Craig's list and sent an e-mail. If that $^$%& ^$^$ tries to make a buck I will absolutely ^$%# him up.
(Is this how Speeder feels all the time?) |
My elegant solution is to go up after the cables are taken down. BFD, stupid #%$@$ park service.

Thank you for your interest in our post. Yes, all 4 half dome permits are currently available for October 5th. I don't know if you know this already or not but selling permits is illegal. However, we are selling 4 collectible stickers for the price of 50$ per sticker and will be including a permit free with each sticker purchased. Please let us know if you would like to proceed. Thanks! |
Well then... there collectible stickers!
Such a deal! |
nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded

I stopped at Yosemite (and all the other national parks) last September as part of my California road trip (started in Houston). The trails wern't too crowded for me - there were people on them but it wasn't packed. Though I didn't do half-dome, but I did do the trail that was used for it to the waterfalls.

They should serialize the permits and track them to purchaser. Permits will not be honored unless purchaser is present at the top of nevada falls.
