Sure, but is it the right thing because it has a positive effect or because the intent is good? Should the distinction not matter?

Are you and Noah really the only people who got it??

What's with the footage recycling? How the neck does someone notice something like that, with all the changes that were made?

Then what do you do with cities who take the stuff in recycled batches and once at the terminal dump everything together and call it all trash?

We found out that one city in this area was having people separate things only to have it all mixed together at the depot. They could have cared less about recycling, was just doing a "knee jerk" reaction to make it look like they were doing something productive.

I'd like to know more about this. Which city?

I like to "restore" something that others have kicked to the curb, like a vintage BBQ grill from the '70's. It would have gone to the landfill or (better) to the metal scrappers, but now it's being used in our backyard.

I take old oil to the city for them to recycle, old batteries get recycled, but we still throw out too much stuff!

I don't know anything about making movies and I assumed it was done all the time. So there is something remarkable about this?

Nobody would want to think their efforts are futile. I can't know what happens to each item sent for recycling. I have greater confidence in the fate of items in the trash container.

Separating items into a recycling container is so easy yet people spend remarkable time and energy trying to be contrarians. Give the stuff a chance at being recycled. The odds of recycling helping are much greater than the odds of it hurting.
