I bought a HondaF12 or something a few years back. Very nice... I figured out it cost me about $250 an hour when I sold it. Next time I'm renting.... It was a very nice jetski though !

We've had a 1999 Yamaha XL1200 since new. Its a 3 person ski, 150HP, when on there alone on smooth water I have seen 60mph indicated. Scary fast, but stable and fun. Can easily pull a tube (this is awesome) or a wakeboarder. Its a 2 stroke, but has a cat, so can actually be taken on any waterway that a modern four-stroke can.

Its been dead reliable. Another plus is it has a huge (19gal) fuel tank.

HTH...

Had a bunch of Yamaha Waverunners. All were awesome, and reliable.

The GP760 was nice and thrifty.....very cheap to run. 58mph
The GP800 was a the Porsche....great handling, great power 64mph.
The GP1200 was heavier and dog slow until 27...then it would pull your arms off...not as good a handler, and VERY thirsty.

All 2 strokes, all a blast.

Worst thing you can do is only have one ski. One ski means one person at a time gets to drive and no cool trips. Best is 2 skis and a boat to carry fuel and food.

Never driven a 4stroke, but they are SOO much heavier....I loved the lightweight nimbleness of the 2 strokes.

BTW....53 on the water is totally different than on the road...

2003 GP1300R

-Handles great, stable but still tossable, and fast...68 on the GPS bone stock.

Wouldn't trade it for anything, even though it is currently having a cylinder and piston redone for the second time in 120 hours

Look out for floating debris and old tree stumps you can hit as reservoir levels change.

A young man died here just a couple of weeks ago for just that reason.

I rent one with five families I go camping with once a year. It cost me about $100 for my share. After a few hours I'm burned out. If you rent, they will show you the bottom side, take a pic to document the condition. BTW, they don't steer unless you are under power as in giving it gas.

I have a Honda f12x turbo model. True to form it's a Honda and has been bulletproof over the past 5 years. My son and his college friends beat the hell out of it every weekend, just gas and oil changes so far.
