Selling to new board members

I know its like the old adage, "I will not hire you bc you have no experience." "how will i get experience if no one will hire me" ... well sort of.
But how do you guys deal with selling parts to new board members? I know everyone is new at one time, but what is the safest way to sell to someone without any history here.
When I was new member here I was burned pretty bad, and I obviously am not going to do that, but what is the best way to protect oneself?

Thanks

Standard business practice....only ship the parts once the cash is in your hand.

When buying from someone, you take a chance that they have similar principles as you do.

I have been fooled once or twice but have had many, many more great transactions here. Mostly generous and trusting people here.

I've been buying and selling on here for about two years...not scammed yet. Knock on wood.

Start a program from within to hire new people and let them go up the ranks.

In Germany a mechanic takes years before they are really, really allowed to work on things. They are not even given a hammer for the first three years, being told that something should fit, not be forced to go on.

They work under an old fart who shows them the ropes and helps train them.

Doing great. Just back from a week in Belize diving. Have a trip in a few weeks for another week in Bermuda. Doing very good in fact.

Doing even better when people ask stupid questions! :)

I have sent several items to members of this forum prior to receiving payment. All have come through as expected (one has since been banned from here, but he's still OK in my book). They had all been hanging around this site for while, and perhaps after 25 years of 'predatory lending' I've become a fairly good judge of character.

Selling to new members seems to be a low risk proposition. Buying from new members might be different. I'll sell to anyone anywhere for cash or USP Money Order.

Another car forum (8th Gen) I visit won't allow you to view the classifieds until you have 30 days & 30 posts. Apparently they had some major problems with fraud & theft. They started the policy a week after I joined, it was a PITA to make 30 posts. All I wanted was to keep an eye on wheel sales.

I've been a bit wary of guys that post only in the For Sale and Wanted forum.

If a guy is contributing on the tech boards, I tend to see him/her as a fellow enthusiast rather than somebody just looking to turn a quick profit.

Not perfect, but that's one thing I look at.
