Hey docs! Fore arm skin boils from anti-perspirant?

I thought I got bug bites cause we live in the boonies, but I would probably remember getting dozens of bites on my left fore arm. No I'm starting to see one or two on my right fore arm!

The wife got me anti-perspirant recently 'cause she couldn't find any of my deodorant.

Could boils develop on my fore arms? I read its common around the armpits but on my fore arm?

Poison ivy? It grows better and more potent with higher CO2 levels.

That's what the wide suggested, but I haven't worked in the yard since last Friday. Boils started mid week. I keep trying to replay my week and can't come up with any other allergen exposure.

The results of PI take about 2-3 days to show on me. It sounds like it was longer than that for you, but PI was my first thought as well.

Show pics. I'm no dermatologist (you'll likely have to wait until September for an appointment with one), but contact dermatitis from something like deodorant is usually not boil-like. It would look more like a flattish rash (again, usually).

Ok. I've never had poison Ivey but I bet it is if there is some delayed reaction. This sucks!

How to treat PI? I've been washing my arms like there's no tomorrow and cotisone cream ain't helping much.

IvyDry works best for me. You can get it in a spray bottle at most pharmacies. If the poison ivy rash gets really bad, your doctor can get you a topical steroid.

Time, that's the only solution for PI. The oil breaks down the cells of the skin. Then you get liquid filled clusters of tiny blisters that itch and hurt. I find that if I scratch the blisters until they pop, it relieves then itching and discomfort some until it heals. Some folks get it much worse. Also, certain skin will react more or less than others.

You've lived up north all your life; you've just experienced what us southerners call "No-see-ums". These are tiny mosquitos that can fly right through your screens. They live in south Florida and similar climates.. If your skin isn't used to them, then you'll wind up with a LARGE welt! Most people can take a few bites and not be affected, but some are GROSSLY allergic to the "No see-um", which is really just a tiny mosquito.

I've lived in Flori-duh since 1985, and nothing bug-wise bothers me now. Your skin gets used to the no-see-ums, and the humidity.

There's also a clear version these days that helps. I've also found that for an itch, if you can stand it. Run the hottest water that you can stand (don't burn yourself) over the affected area. It'll intensify the itching A LOT. But, if you can manage for a couple of minutes, the itch will then go away for at least an hour or two. I think the theory is that the hot water causes your cells to dump all of their histamines (causing the itch) all at once. Then afterwards no more itch. It works for me.

I took some pictures over the wekend, but the boils are like blisters, and if I pop them nearly clear liquid will weep out. If I don't pop or break the scab the ooze builds up around the original boil (or bite) and then it'll start itching!

I have some very tiny onces on my right arm too. But it's mostly on my left arm. I think it's getting better, otherwise I was gonna go see the doc.

I'll try to post the pictures later.

It's damn thing living in the woods!

Normy I lived in Florida and Alabama for several years, never got bite by anything that produced this stuff...

Not sure where you are, here in CA we have Poison Oak, a close relative to Poison Ivy. Anyway, Poison Oak can take many days for the reaction to show. Generally, the more often you get it the worse it is and the quicker it shows up.

It's gotten worst! It's got to be poison Ivey or the like. It's spreading up my left arm and now more on my right arm. The initial boils are now quarter size hard leathery oozing messes!

I got some poision Ivey was and calamine and "Calahist". The Ivey wash was expensive (32$) so it better work some. Tomorrow I call the doc.

I washed my arms twice and cover them with calamine and I'm getting some relief.

Man this stuff is terrible. It looks like I have a desease! I hope the little kids never get this stuff.

Will be keeping them out of the woods with greater emphasis now.
