My new cheap R/C helicopter
For my Birthday couple days ago, (39 and holding?) the Wife got me a 2nd R/C helicopter..........these things are dang fun for $20-25, with true 3 channels control and on board gyro for very stable flight and nimble fwd/rev L/R and full throttle control...........AND DANGGGG DURABLE AFTER NUMEROUS BANGS/CRASHES
we have 2 of these now, so she and I can chase each other around in-doors. Cheaper on Amazon.com for only $18-20, but $25 here: 3.5ch Syma S107 Mini RC Helicopter Metal Series with Gyro - Red of course, now I wants a bigger outdoor one.......... you can get 'em for $70, buttttttttttttt.......more power more controls (more crashes? grins ).....OMG, look at what these 6 channel ones can do now! FULL INVERTED 3D AEROBATICS = $250 'copter Click on the video link here: HOLY CRAP KDS 2.4Ghz 450S 6ch RC Helicopter HOLY CRAP |
Happy Belated B-Day Brother Rusty!
That is very coolio :D |
Well, I just ordered two....
|
The S107 'choppa ROCKS.
Davidbir, post your comments once you get 'em. no dissapointments for an in-door begining fly-boy...........heck a 12 year old can fly at ease! and heck, it charges off your USB port on the computer..........and did I mention the thing is damn bullet proof for crashes? Serious. major fun for ~$20. |
Now this is a model aircraft:
YouTube - R/C SR-71 JET Edit - You could edge the lawn with the helicopter. |
That SR-71 models' "paint only" cost more than $20. we're not talking about super machines, just cheap fun fun fun.
Lets not forget the 30th Anniversary of the Tamiya Sand Scorcher Baja Bug, drooled over this way back when......... Tamiya America Item #58452 | RC Sand Scorcher (2010) - 2WD Off-Road Racer |
No intention to slam the helicopter. Just read your post in the 911 tech forum and had the link to the SR-71. Thought it was amazing, too. Perhaps a bit of a hijack. Apologies.
That jet had to have cost a squillion dollars. No comparison. How long till one gets as good as the pilot in the youtube vid of the helicopter? |
|
I have an S107 that won't make enough power to lift itself....
I bought an Airhogs back at christmas that I really love... Be aware of those bigger outdoor ones if you try it inside, they are fast! |
ooohhhh......must. get.
|
My 10 year old boy and I have a blast with ours
|
Brookstone has a cool one as well in the same price range.
|
I actually bought the Brookstone one in an airport brookstone once but we ended up returning it. Kind of difficult to control and it did not seem to be made well. We bought a $135 one at a hobby store
|
If you buy the Brookstone one buy the $5 unconditional warranty. I found it OK to fly. Did you use the anti-rotation feature?
|
I actually bought two of them from amazon for $18.40 each-one for a friend-free shipping-no tax!
These things are amazing--I have bounced it off the ceiling, the floor, furniture and it keeps going. I was concerned my wife would say something snarky-we are not young-but all she said was "it is beautiful!" Another wasted afternoon... |
helicopters are a very very slippery slope I do recommend you run out and get "Real Flight" It will teach you how to fly with out all the expense....there will still be crashes..and its a fun game too..comes with all things. last known cost 200.00 well worth it
|
I have a Lighthawk XL and they are fun to tease the dog with!
She has intercepted it a couple of time so I stopped doing that... |
Move right up to the Vario and be done with it , be the Big Dawg in Twn...too scrared to fly mine LOL
|
Awesome - I've been looking for an rc helo with camera to patrol the property perimeter (and maybe check on the neighbor girl's poolside exploits). ;)
That sr71 is the bees knees - serious pucker factor on approach though - wouldnt want to prang that one - probably a LOT of money and hours tied up in that! |
Cool stuff. Not that long ago RC helicopters were expensive and very difficult to fly.
Amazing what you can get for $25. |
