Georgia Police Close Girls' Lemonade Stand

MIDWAY, Ga. – Police in Georgia have shut down a lemonade stand run by three girls trying to save up for a trip to a water park, saying they didn't have a business license or the required permits.

Midway Police Chief Kelly Morningstar says police also didn't know how the lemonade was made, who made it or what was in it.

The girls had been operating for one day when Morningstar and another officer cruised by.

The girls needed a business license, peddler's permit and food permit to operate, even on residential property. The permits cost $50 a day or $180 per year.

One girl, 14-year-old Casity Dixon, says the three had to listen to police and shut down.

The girls are now doing chores and yard work to make money.

and thus be forced to taze /or double-tap the girls before they could harm him..

The IRS will show up next and make sure their parents give them 1099s.

The girls really need to setup a Paypal account and have all the news outlets mention it in their stories. They'd be able do buy their own water park.

Great lesson learned for the girls. The man will always be holding you down. No matter how hard you try to do the right thing, and earn for your self, the gov't will be right there with either it's hand out, or a padlock for your door.
It will be far easier for the girls to get knocked up, and go on welfare, or go into an illegal profession, than it will ever be to become a productive member of society.
WTF happened to our great country? I can remember the police stopping to buy a cup of cool aide from my little sisters and my cool aide stand.

This kind of thing really erases all of the good "community service" that the Police Depts. do. You would think they would "get it" and avoid the bad publicity... but they don't.

I've been to Midway quiet a few times...no suprise..small town cops with nothing to do with that GED they earned online.
I'm sure there is more to the story..wouldn't at all be surprised if race was an issue.
