Well, less than a month at a new job making more money. Contract right now. Should be perm before too long which will be less money, but fantastic benefits. Cool thing is that we are approved to get OT (not 1.5x, but that's ok at my rate) so I'm getting about 10 extra hours a week.

UconnTim97 07-15-2011 02:41 PM

Nope.

Brando 07-15-2011 02:57 PM

Yes - with a promotion. 35%.

id10t 07-15-2011 04:08 PM

Yes, and then a decrease.

2 bumps in base pay (2% each, so 4%) and then once that is calculated 2.5% more ... then take out 3% pre-tax for Florida state retirement ...

Not complaining, still came out to a decent raise for being a state employee and being in education.

What's a raise?

Shaun @ Tru6 07-15-2011 04:29 PM

Just hired a new sales rep for the South, so I guess that's a raise.

The two kids have graduated from college, that should be close to a 80% raise for us.

3% COLA effective July 1. Not much but I'm certainly not complaining. Perversely merit raises have been suspended indefinitely which is whack and bugs me because my EPRs have all been outstanding. Sucks but if sure beats being unemployed.

LWJ 07-15-2011 04:48 PM

I sell on commission. I give myself a raise regularly. Of course, I get fired regularly as well.

I've known lots of folks that didn't understand this ^.

6% raise in April of this year. I took a 30% pay cut back in 2008, so I still have quite a ways to go...

I'm demanding a 20% base salary raise next week when my boss gets back from vacation. I haven't had a base salary raise in five years and they raised our goals by 18% for 2011. I'm at 100% of goal for the year and making exactly the same as I made at a lower % of goal last year. Basically, they cut our pay for 2011. I'm brining in $200k more for the company and not getting paid an extra dime for it. I don't have another job lined up, but feel pretty secure in asking/demanding this because this new pay plan has already driven two folks from our team elsewhere in the last few mos. and I think everyone is looking for something better. My boss's goals don't change because he loses members of his team and he hates nothing more than hiring and training new folks.

in 2007 I made roughly a buck a hour more, and I worked 40. Now I work 50-60. I havent had a raise in 3 years. Justa pay cut.

Rick, is the situation that you're on commission but the plan is capped? If so, dumb policy on the company's part. If anything they should give you accelerated commissions when you exceed plan!

Yes, very dumb plan. Commissions are not really capped, but we didn't even get our goals for 2011 until March 18th, though we had a "consultant" working on them since last October. And the goals and comp plan were finally announced, the outcry got them changed again a month later. Some of us got true-up checks by May. But they had been paying everyone until then AS IF they were at 100% of goal. So those who weren't had some draw debt to pay back. Total BS. The whole point of this plan was to see how everyone was doing for Q1 and then to adjust the goals retroactively to make sure no one made more than last year AND also to raise the profitibilty such that the SVP can claim that when he gets fired and parachutes out to his next job. My boss is the best, but he's not the big boss. He can't change the comp plan, but he can approve sizeable base salary raises.

mattdavis11 07-16-2011 09:03 AM

No monetary raises here, and I've made it known I don't want one. I do what I want to do, and take care of everything I need to do. Corporate has no idea what or how I do it. We are a franchise.
