Amy Winehouse

Tragic.

I liked her sound. Back to black.

When she was on, she was brilliant IMO.

When she was off, she was dreadful.

A troubled soul.

RIP and godspeed.

Her dad said a year ago that her body couldn't take it (booze, drugs, ...) any longer.

27 years old. Tragic how Rock and Roll history keeps repeating that number.

RIP, Amy.

It is just darn sad.

Maybe I am getting soft in my older age. For some reason more than a few of these young artists, who I didn't pay much attention to before, have caught my ear. I like more of their stuff than I imagined. It hurts to see them suffer, be it self induced or not. I guess some just can't defeat the boggy man. Really sad.

I've always wondered, is it the sudden fame, adoration, managers telling you can do no wrong and covering for you, access to money and possessions that you never thought would be within your reach.

Or to be really good, you need to be on edge, just this far away from out of control, a bit mad perhaps. It seems that when the candle burns that bright, it doesn't last long.

RIP Amy.

She was an entertainer. RIP Amy.
My friend, a Lineman for 15 years, providing service to the home owners in our area was killed yesterday. Who cares? The artists like her are so more important I guess, otherwise Walt would have got the same media coverage. Who really gives a crap about the Walts that make the country work?

I think without exception, all of us on the board care a great deal about the Walts of the world. I'm sorry for your loss my friend.
RIP Walt, and my heart goes out to his family.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend but I've never understood this type of hostile response to news of a public figure dying. People who knew about your friend Walt care about his life, and death. A lot more people knew of Amy Winehouse and her troubled life, hence the attention her death is getting. Don't worry, the attention won't last. The public has a fickle attention span and no one will be talking about AW next week.

How exactly would Walt's death have gotten widespread media coverage? My death certainly won't. The vast majority of people in the world do not know that I exist. And that's the way I like it, FWIW.

And yes, she was a major talent. Very sad, tragic story. There was no happiness or anything else to envy in her life.

RIP Amy.

Just like Hollywood. Name three child (not started out as a teenager) actors who didn't crash and burn before they were 30; I can think of two, Shirley Temple, and Kurt Russell. One teenage age actor that survived is Travolta.

This couldn't have been a surprise to anyone. Her Rehab hit was on the radio every other minute it seemed when I first moved to Germany, so I'll remember that one for a long time.
