This one looks like it might rip the top of your head off... if seen in the theatre.

That old movie scared the heck out of me when I was a kid. It will be interested to see the new one now.

The 1982 remake by John Carpenter or the 1951 "The Thing from Another World" original?

The 82 remake by Carpenter. Saw it in a cinema in Hollywood because we knew this older high school boy that worked the back door. We sneaked in to see R movies. I pee in my pants going home on that winter Friday night after that movie. Especially walking pass my neighbor's barking dog. I was the last guy on the block after everyone's gone.

The Carpenter remake is one of my all time favorites.

The Carpenter remake was good but I still love watching the original.

Yes, I'm old.

The original is a classic that I still enjoy watching. The 1982 version is great as well (parts of which were filmed up on the Juneau Icefield which I spent some time flying around myself).

I hope the new one isn't ruined with overdone CGI effects.

Super, I'll be in. The special fx should be great but to really up the ante one of those chicks needs to get nekkid onscreen.

Laneco 07-19-2011 05:26 AM

The 82 version is the only movie I've watched in my life where I had to leave my bedroom light on to sleep...

So, yes, I'm in! :D

The 82 remake was "Epic".
No women and still one of the best Sci-Fi's of all time.

That movie & Jaws left my pants filled for a few nights at least.

My dad took me to see Jaws at 7-8 years old because he thought it would be more artsy than horror: thanks dad. Lights were on for at least a few years...

Oops, I was thinking of " swamp thing".
if they re-made that they could bring back Adrianne Barboobs.

I was also very young. I was afraid the shark was going to come out of the shower drain. A few weeks after that, we went to Sea World. I saw the Nurse Shark and could not sleep for days thinking about it.

Probably more like Adrienne bar-pancake-boobs-baugh. She's aging ya know: time to choose a new hottie for this time period. :) (no offense...)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311092531.jpg

Yes....didn't need girls and gratuitous T&A (not that they don't have their place....just not in this movie)

The grittiness and feeling of isolation is what made that movie stand out.

Especially the part at the end where the two survivors knew they were going to die....but had to do it to keep the creature from spreading.

GDNF2ET 07-19-2011 08:49 AM

I just saw the 1982 again last week...It looks like this movie is the prequel to the Thing..Remember the 82 version started off with 2 Swedes in a helo trying to shoot a Husky..The swedes discovered it..I also saw that the word prequel was on another trailer..
