![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Seems I am just ranting about everything these past few months!!! (Everyone is probably starting to call me Summer of Vash) Bought a new in box Bosch washing machine on clearance. Deeply discounted it is a Vision 500 series and was priced lower than other new HE washers on sale with half or fewer of the options. Good reviews, overall. Delivered, set in basement but not set up by delivery service. I set it up this morning per the instructions. I had set up our old Maytag several times over the last years as well as maybe a half dozen other washing machines. BUT I have not slept in a Holiday Inn ![]() Per instructions you add a small amount of detergent and run one load without any clothes to rinse out the unit. Turn unit on, unit turns without water sounds, E-13 error. Suddsing, unable to pull water out. Huh??? There never appeared to be any water entering the unit. OK, loosen water hoses from back of unit, yep water spews. Turn off water, blow through unit, unable to blow. Remove the plastic water strainers, unable to easily blow through plastic strainers. Hook back up, repeat, E-13 error code. No water through the soap, no water entering unit. Call Bosch, they are open but can only refer out to local service people. They trouble shoot over the phone and decide the pump or the inner connections are bad. Saturday, no one wants to come out and provide service. We are twenty miles from two large cities (50K +) both with major universities and an hour from Indy. They all want me to take a day of vacation to wait on them during the week. Bought from Sears so I call them. They'll call me back after monday to tell me when they can schedule a service call. Call the store and they actually laugh at me and say I would have to redeliver to them, pay a restocking fee, and wait a week or so for a refund. I'm MADDDDD!!!!! And now I have wasted an entire morning, no fence work, no tractor work, no animals done, NOTHING!!! Wasted the entire time. And then spent time typing this to try and calm down. Going into town to yell at the store manager and see what that accomplishes. Doubt it will do anything. Maybe Bosch will stand behind their product? Right now I doubt they will!!!! So what is supposed to be a good brand to buy, someone who would stand behind their product? There are no "local" dealers who support where I live.... In Texas I was 40 miles from Waco on a back road in a town no one wanted to go to. BUT I could receive service from Maytag on EVERYTHING! And most times it was same day service! Maybe I need to try a different Maytag store??????

Were there any shipping plugs installed that you may have overlooked? Sometimes these plugs prevent water from entering the washing machine and they are removed prior to hooking up. I'm not saying you don't know what you're doing, just that you may have overlooked those...

We buy from a local appliance store. They deliver, set up the new appliance, haul the old one away, make service calls, etc. Well worth the slightly higher prices than the box stores in order to get the service.

I am pretty sure that the machine was run at the factory before it was shipped out,
as someone else posted check the water inlet/outlets for plugs

Our GE washer was shipped to us with the plugs installed. The installers removed them, hauled out the old appliances and left us with the new (junk) GE Adora washer and dryer. Whatever you do, DO NOT buy GE appliances!

Not to sound like tech support from India, but did you try unplugging it for a few minutes?

You're very fortunate...
You're very fortunate... We used to have an appliance store at the end of our street. They delivered free since we were so close. They went out of business when Lowes and Home Depot arrived and so did all of the small hardware and specialty stores. Empty storefronts with "For Sale or Lease" are prevalent now...

if it was on clearance and that cheap chances are the thing spent most of it's life in the box getting banged around working it's way through inventory/stores/whatever........or maybe even bought and returned......
i'd pop it apart, check what you can, look for missing parts which could've been "borrowed" etc..... be aware, if you take too much apart and a service guy shows up make sure it's back together as you received it as they may refuse warranty service since you "tampered" with it...... i'd wait for the service guy to look at it.....and relax......just go buy some new clean sox ![]()

That's b.s. and you should document their response in writing.
You could return to Sears and then small-claims them for the restocking fee and shipping. Judge would probably frown at their behaviour. Go all the way to the top of the store, first, for everyones sake. If there is no warentee to nulify by cracking it open, then the pump should have juice going to it during the cycle. Be careful with 220V. No juice present=bad board/timer/other. Juice present and no movement=bad pump. |

Thanks for all the suggestions!!! This, among other things, has me rather angry...
Tom, Thanks, though I'm not in the best of mind to tackle this while it is SUPPOSED to be warranty work.... Art, There are four plugs in the back for holding the tub in place. I asked the service center about other plugs and they stated there were none. None of the literature states there are other plugs. Not insulted, I could have done something wrong but I did follow the instructions fairly well. House had GE when we moved in, we have replaced as we went! We did make the mistake of buying a "nice" GE dishwaser, worked great for about a year. End of warranty, end of dishwasher. PWD, Yep, but there are no local appliance stores. I have to drive 20+ miles. Wife wanted to start at the big box and work away. We've heard so many bad things about Maytag recently that we did not even look there. Should have I guess. I just expected someone to stand behind this unit. I was wrong... Dear Wizard, Yes, documents state it was factory tested. Unit has sat for more than six months in a warehouse. Again, nothing showing plugs for drains and Bosch stated everything beyond the instructions was internal and not to be accessed by end user. If the drain hose was plugged I should not be able to blow down it, but I can easily blow down the tube. (OUCH, THAT sounds BAAAAD!!!!) Lee, Did that while talking with tech support. 15 minutes made zero difference. Bell, But the Wife's clothes are expensive!!! John, I am wondering about that. It might be an interesting route to take. Patrick, Thanks! I have two roosters who have to go soon, might be sooner... Wife just brought me the scrapings of her lavender jelly. WOW!!!!! That was GOOD!!!! Opening a bottle of mead and sitting down to watch her and a buddy make jellies before going out to feed and move hay.

And the verdict is in:
Appears to have been a loose connection giving a fault. Repairman is still going over the unit to ensure nothing else is wrong with it. Guess sitting for some time and then being moved around did it no good.
