Is it just me - I don't understand planking

What has this world come to in terms of self expression?

To be cool and express your artistic flair, you lie face down on a random object? Where is your individuality?

It all feels very "Orwellian/1984" to me.

I don't see a problem here...

You don't understand it because you are old.

Now get off of my lawn.

Flieger 07-22-2011 05:49 PM

I'm young and I don't understand it either. But then, I don't understand most video games, smart phones, or facebook either. :)

Max, I have to say that you just got a whole lot of reality points with that comment.

pete3799 07-22-2011 07:30 PM

I'm old and...and...and....what was the question?

kach22i 07-22-2011 07:38 PM

I posted these today in the Random Picture thread, and never heard of it before today. Found by accident and found it weird.

Flieger 07-22-2011 08:24 PM

I guess if Scott Dixon does it, then
.
.
. it is still weird.

allaircooled 07-22-2011 08:27 PM

I never heard of planking until yesterday. Then I saw something similar to above stating planking is old and now owling is in.

Flieger 07-22-2011 08:32 PM

I heard of planking on Discovery News months ago since a few Australians died in planking stunts gone wrong, but I never heard of owling until now.

"Excuse me, EXCUSE ME[one finger poke to back of shoulder], I see you are immobile. Do you need help????"

"No. F off."

"I'm here. What seems to be the problem? Can I call the parametics with your cell phone?".

Porsche-O-Phile 07-22-2011 09:14 PM

Madness!

jyl 07-22-2011 10:18 PM

Planking at least looks like a good core exercise. Not sure what owling is good for, maybe constipation.

Geronimo '74 07-22-2011 11:47 PM

I can appreciate the absurdity and uselesness

EarlyPorsche 07-23-2011 05:25 AM

Owling? Did that come before or after "coning":

stealthn 07-24-2011 07:48 PM

I'm gonna start a new trend called breaking the plank; just run up and kick those dudes in the nuts that are planking over something; it'll go viral, you know it :D

flatbutt 07-25-2011 05:55 AM

I plank as part of my workout. Up on my toes and elbows as long as I can as many times as I can.

sammyg2 07-25-2011 08:03 AM

First learned about this sillyness from an NHRA drag race show a month back.
Evidently John Force's younger kids showed him what it was about and so he planked on his race car and they showed it on TV.

That made me sad.

MarkRobinson 07-25-2011 10:47 AM

someone needs to start a photo-bomb thread: at least they're funny. Planking is dull, so is Owling.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311619669.jpg
