i wish more prayer was like that..then i wouldnt drift off mentally.
but seriously, i've never seen an established official format for prayer..it should/could be fun. but the product placement in the above example was ridiculous..

and let us not kid ourselves..that prayer was for the spectators and drivers. if it was only for God's ears, i assume he wouldnt need the microphone and sound system.
 he could have just thought it.

Half the point is to lead the audience in prayer, e.g. to "bring their hearts along on the journey," as it were. Without the sound system, you can't do that.
You also can't be heard when you tell a joke partway through a prayer, which friggin' rocks.

Man, wife and I recently went on a road trip to Tennesse, to visit her parents who live about an hour west of Johnsoncity. Very country and rural, also a dry county no less. Everywhere we went we saw so many pictures of Jesus and Elvis I started to get the two confused
