Yo, docs?!?
So, I really, really, really hate going to the doctor's office...
BUT, I'm gonna have to break down if this doesn't resolve soon... Symptoms: Stomach pain Decreased appetite (on the bright side, I've lost 10lbs in the last 2 weeks, they should market whatever the hell is wrong with me...) Nausea after eating more than a small helping Occasional vomiting, never productive, just stomach acid, always in the morning when pain is the worst. Pepto provides some relief, Malox seems to work a little better. Dunno, seems like an ulcer to me and given the last month, it seems plausible. Anything I can do to resolve this without having to go see a doc?? |
Seems like an obvious "go to doctor" situation. Can you treat a peptic ulcer, administer yourself antibiotics etc? If it's not that, can you treat whatever it is without knowing what it is? These are basically rhetorical questions.

Jyl is right. I donīt know your age but with children I usually go with a 2-4 weeks treatment with omeprazol (ulcer medication) or the equivalent. Partly for diagnostic reasons. But with adults there are diagnoses with this kind of symptoms that could need further investigations. Hence, off to the doctors office, I am afraid.

^what the baby doc said^
good luck, if it is me I keep treating it with the Maalox until I get seen. |
If vomit looks bloody, get your ass to the ER....
I had a much weaker case of what you are describing. A few weeks of prilosec and I was back to normal. |
It's butterflies.
You are in love. This is what cougar love butterflies feel like.... (No seriously, get yourself to a doctor) |
Please get some medical attention NOW!
|
I lost 17 lbs in two weeks one time. Because I had a parasite that was killing me.
I concur with everybody above. Get to a doctor. Ian |
Driving yourself to the doctor is a whole better than an ambulance ride to the ER.
Think of it like your P-Car. Its better to drive it to the shop for repairs than having it towed to the shop. |
let me put it this way..
I have med. knowledge & training.. ignored others & myself... it wasn't real bad.. it was that last 'barf'... seems that ruptured something... now I had a serious problem.. go! Rika |
Doctor? Bah, waste of time.
What's the worst that could happen? |
Gonna be hard to 'scope yourself. Maybe you should see your PCP or a gastroenterologist.
|
Sounds a lot like a food borne illness. I've had it twice in the last 10 years. I would feel fine unless I ate, then I would feel just like you describe. Pepto has a small antibiotic effect, so it would actually make me feel better, but wasn't enought to kill the bug. Both times I had to go to the doc and got standard antibiotics. Within 24 hours I was fine and overeating as usual. But without the meds I would have suffered forever. Go in sooner rather than later. You'll feel better.

Stop by tomorrow afternoon and I'll scope you, then take out that gallbladder if the scope's normal ;)
|
Ugh, that sucked. Yup, I've got a duodenal ulcer and apparently a fairly bad one. Two prescriptions, omeprazole and an antibiotic. And no soda, booze, coffee, tea, etc. I might as well put a bullet in my head.
|
A duodenal ulcer is not something to F with. People do die from stuff like that. (Or, even if they don't, they can wind up in the ICU with fairly large volume blood transfusions.)
|
Yeah, the doc gave me a stern lashing over how long I let this go.
Then, the woman from my other thread ripped into me for not taking care of myself while I was taking care of her. |
Get better soon.
|
Nice save mate. You take care of yourself, y'hear?
|
day 1 with no caffeine: I'm pretty sure I fell asleep while walking a few minutes ago. This is gonna be a rough month.
