Quark

Wow, I haven't seen this show in years.

Was TV that brain-dead in the 1970's? It all seemed better back then...

red-beard 07-29-2011 03:24 PM

But the Barnstable twins are worth watching! Wow!

That's because you/we were younger then.

Ooops. I thought you were talking about the page design program that is legendary for bad customer service.

I bought the Riptide series dvd set...i remember it being totally awesome when i was little. after watching it now, it's just mega cheesy...although, they did have a lot of cool cars that randomly showed up on episodes.

I thought Riptide was cool, but it was a ripoff of Simon and Simon. I was a pretty serious hacker back then, and thought the robot was stupid.

The really bad movie "The Losers" has a much better class of techno-nerd-geek.

And nobody uses anymore. God I hated it when we used it back at the newspaper.

Fellow KYans, they were quite the celebs when I was growing up there.

LOL, they had the market cornered and gave it away.

One of my former staff has been their director of licensing for a while now.

He was an ******* so he fit right in.

I haven't seen Quark since it aired, but I still remember two funny gags. One where the ship's doctor, a gruff old guy with an eye patch, is asked to look at a sample in a microscope and screams in horror "Oh, god - it's all black, and dark, and-" and Quark says "Other eye, Doc." "Oh. Eh, just typical biological material..."

And another when Quark is infected with something and the sentient plant guy walks up and gives him a shot.

"How bad is it?"
"Fatal. The only cure is to have sex for 48 hours straight."
The clones (Barnstable twins) light up with interest.
"Or the shot I just gave you."
Everyone "What!?"
Plant guy: "What?"

red-beard 07-30-2011 05:59 PM

The first doctor was only in the Pilot. "Ficus", the plant guy, replaced him in the actual series.

This is a Buck Henry show. It definitely reminds me of a lot of the late 1970's Saturday Night Live shows.
