Anyone having trouble with their GPS today?

I'm in Providence, and for whatever reason, the GPS on my iPhone won't get a decent fix. It seems to randomly pick some place about 1 mile away-

N?

Does GPS on an iPhone actually rely upon GPS signals, or just triangulation of cell towers?

Side note: I was talking with a surveyer on Friday. His GPS equipment is accurate down to 1 cm! It also costs something like $27K.

I think is uses the GPS sats? I turned off all my 3g and data service and still get a location, dont get the map overlays but the gps still works.

We had all sorts of problems yesterday. We kept loosing signal, and then it was unable to pinpoint our location, and for a period thought we were heading south, while we were actually heading north. Sun spots huh? Well , that would explain it.

Having trouble here in Ohio today.

It's going to be the norm for the next couple of years.

I used mine for a 800 mile trip with no problems. My iPhone GPS worked as well.
