I kinda tend to agree. If it were an electrical issue the car wouldn't start at all.

Hmm, my dad had a similar situation, not the neighbor's daughter, but with his wife's car stalling out a mile from home.

He wrote me saying "Even a Toyota needs gas."

So my answer to the above issue would be "Have you checked the gas gauge?"
