I think it was allergic to Raid Ant & Roach Killer

I got many more apparently (as I see a lot of webs around).

Shape looks like the common orb spiders I have in my neighborhood. If they are building orb webs then it is most likely on of those guys. The shape of the back end kind of gives it away. I haven't had them in my yard much lately which is both good and bad. We used to get some HUGE ones - like over an inch in diameter. If you stepped on them they would push back.

Yeah, bite would hurt they are low risk...

I will never forget my 6' 5" big and tall insurance guy walking out of my house one night and right into an orb web between a magnolia and my house. His arms were flailing like he was drowning - it was awesome.

I like him and all but that was some funny stuff.

=-)

My sister had a really large one with a web between her house & a tree. When she moved, she captured it in a Mason jar and transferred it to a tree next to her new house. It lived there for a long time getting even larger. She didn't consider it a pet, but always looked after it until it disappeared.

the orb spiders at my brother's place in hawaii are enormous. if you bug them, they rock in their webs and get agitated. this is quite amusing, after imbibing a few beers.

Looks like an Argiope florida garagica (Araneidae), a subspecies of the Argiope florida, commonly known as the Florida Garden Spider...which gives rise to the question, What are you growing in your garage?
