LGB is my favorite. No longer produced right now. I have a couple of sets and lots of track with roadbed. I usually set it up around the perimeter of the front room around the holiday time. (Started around the tree and grew from there.) Have to brad nail the track down on the hardwood to keep it from moving. Holiday parties have taken their toll on some cars. I have to figure out how else to bring a LGB set out for the holidays. Just can't keep it on the floor-

I've been in model railroading since I was 10 yrs old. Small tracks here and there, but always nice senery. I built a layout when my two girls were younger and one helped me out a lot. When she was in high school, the boys would come over to the house and just loved the layout. I hope I instilled in them the great hobby that it is. Now, I just asked my wife if I could build a 4x8 layout in her sewing room and she said no problem. I've got lots of HO rolling stock and buildings, so this might be the year. It's such a great hobby for anyone looking to kill some time, build something, and have fun at the same time.

Im into G-scale I had tracks running through my yard. I recently pulled them up and am in the the process of re-laying them as soon as I redo my yard. Not a cheap hobby.:(

Also have a small N gage layout that i have been working on forever.

My other hobby is the big trains. I volunteer at a tourist railroad here in NJ near my home. We rtun a narrow guage line and also are restoring a number of trains.

The company I work for supplied the paint for this locomotive. They are "Heritage Colors". It was just finished. We have a few more to do. Pretty cool.

Which track (train) size is the most popular? When I was a kid I had a Tri-Ang trainset. I loved that trainset and the size it was. I'd quite like to build a new set without getting too excessive :rolleyes: but would like to start on a common track size so I can by bits on on-line auctions and not end up with a rare setup. And I don't want to get too fancy with sound, lights and switching.

HO is Half O, so no, not the same size.

I got this for Christmas in 1958 Tenshodo imported by PFM. HO scale.
I used to love logging layouts when I was a kid.

Looking at my shop which was full of Porsche paraphernalia but is now nearly empty (24 X 36) I see a point to point lay-out around the walls with a trestle over the pellet stove.......hell of a winter (or 3) project for an old fart.. .....

On and off for the last 10 years I have been working on a layout in an 8 x 16 room in a corner of my garage. It seems to have morphed into a J shaped "dog-bone" layout with two tracks. Inside is 24" radius, outside is 30" (for passenger cars). Era is late 1950s around the time of change-over from steam to diesel with Canadian National rolling stock. (Trains of my youth.) I just started doing scenery when I stalled last time. Still have track to lay and hook up and am starting to get back to it this spring.
