Question For Roofers: Felt Over Plywood Question
Guys - I am re-doing the garage roof (detatched). About 60% of the roof is metal and very flat, I was reading on the weekend that on a flat roof it is always a good idea to roll two layers of the felt regardless if it is 15lb or 30lb, your thoughts?
Thanks! Yasin

I think you will need a 3 layer roof, torch down. 30 lb will fasten down better.

Hopefully not too flat. As Milt says, the approved way of roofing a flat roof is torch on. When we do one, we do a bomb proof affair with two torched layers and a rigid underlayment. Unlike on a pitched roof, the water tracks all over the place so no matter how much felt you lay down any water that may get through will eventually find it's way to your sheathing. Cheers

No roof should be flat as in absolutely flat. If it was, he'd be wasting his money on even attempting a roof job. You'd have to install pitched sleepers and a new sheath before roofing. Bare minimum is a 1/4 in 12.
