question on hanging an LCD.
What size of bolts/screws would you recommend me to bolt the bracket to the wall?
LCD TV is 50 inches and is heavy, an older type. Wall is about 1", dry wall and plaster, before it come to 2x4. I am thinking of 2.5" bolt (screw type) so I can have almost 1.5" of bolt in the wood beam (2x4). Any pro here? How about the diameter? Thanks in advance. |
4" lag bolts oughta do it. Into the studs.

1/4" to 3/8" bolts 3 1/2" long will do the trick. There are many not just two, so 1/4" bolts will do more then enough.

The kit I used last weekend ot hang my 55" LCD came with 3" lug bolts

Four 3 1/2 x 1/4 inch lags in 3/16 pilot holes. Measure the shank and make sure you drill a 1/4 clearance hole the depth that the shank will extend into the wood.

Let see if I got it.
Bolt: 3" to 4" length. 1/4" diameter bolt. Drill hole: 3/16 diameter. Hole's length is as long as the bolt's shank. |
I am a fan of Ledger-lock screws:
LedgerLok 3-5/8 in. Coarse Steel Hex-Head Ledger Board Fasteners 50 Pack-FMLL358-50 at The Home Depot Started using them for decks and rails, but I use them for alot more. |
