Yosemite 8-17

Happy Isles to Merced Lake (and back again, of course). Great going up, hardly any people. Coming back was good until below the Little Yosemite camp ground when it started getting crowded. From the top of Nevada Falls to Happy Isles was a traffic jam and I had to knock a few people down who weren't paying attention. Durn for'ners.

So what happened. I remember your rant about all of the permits being bought up and someone trying to scalp a few to you?

Burnin' oil 08-18-2011 10:47 AM

The permits are for Half Dome which I'll do in the fall. The permit process is being fine-tuned and hopefully I won't have any trouble getting one, otherwise I'll go when the cables are down and no permit is needed.

The 1st time I went to Yosemite was in 1980 as a teenager. We took a day hike up the upper falls. Halfway up the mountain we ran into some hikers coming down. We said "hi to the guy" as 2 topless blondes (18-19 yrs old) followed behind him. It took about 10 seconds to realized what we saw as the girls (18-19 yrs old) giggled at us. Mike and I were so startled that we had to ask each other if we really saw the bouncing breasts.

Yosemite is my favorite national park with all the breath taking views. It was very common back then to see hanggliders running off the cliffs.

Those are great pics of the park. Thanks for the memories/mamaries!

You really do take some nice photos.

Purty. I spent the week with my son and his BFF up in Big Bear. Not as photogenic as Yosemite, but it was a nice change of pace
