The word that buges me most is goes instead of said.

You realize that "when" has been replaced by "whenever" in almost all situations now.

Whatever. :D

"Whatever" really bugged me when it was in regular use. Fortunately my daughter was too young to pick that one up. Uttering "Whatever" with just the right tone of voice was synonymous with "F-you, take a hike you idiot." I was relieved when that one ran its course.

Definitely part of the problem with her. Her mouth can't keep up with her brain. She reads 3-4 times faster than I can with way better retention (ex: Harry Potter books read in two days). It's funny when she tries to read aloud as she gets severely toungue tied.

My daughter's friend is over this afternoon, so I'll spend the evening trying to get her to speak English again.

Everytime my son uses like, I stop him and say " let's hear it again without like". It is amazing how hard this habit is to break.

The other word that teenagers over-use is "actually" and it, like, actually, drives me nuts!!

There's a hilarious book by Christopher Moore, and the chapters written from the perspective of a high school goth chick say "so he's all 'what?' and I'm all 'what what?'" Would be very annoying in real life. I don't think the character once writes that someone says something.
