How to get rid of virus on my computer??

OK, I clicked on the link in this thread and was barraged by viruses:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/626929-911-turbo-sleeps-fishes.html

It is some kind of "Win32" virus?

It made it so most of my programs won't run anymore.

I started up the computer in Safe Mode, so I can get on line.

I tried downloading the Microsoft Scanner/virus fixer program. It seems to download ok, but when I start the scanner it seems like it just shuts down and doesn't run.

Any help would be appreciated!

No help here...other to say I'm glad I have good virus protection. Did you leave a warning on that thread? Hope so...probably picked up when you clicked on the video?

Have you tried running your Anti-virus program while in safe-mode?

No matter how you clean them you can't really trust your machine.

Backup your data, wipe your drive, reinstall windows.

How do I do that?

The data (documents, pictures, etc.) i can understand, but what happens to my programs, like Word, Office, etc. when I "wipe" the drive?

As noted run your AV in safe mode (if possible, not all AV will), get MalwareBytes and run that in safe mode.

Your best bet is to get some one who knows computers to do this then strip out the remaining files and registry entries manually (at least that's how I do it when I get called).
