Ferrari factory?
I am going to be in Bologna next summer and I understand this is fairly near the Ferrari factory. My spouse (who is a travel research nut) tells me that the only way to get a tour is 1) own a ferrari or 2) be seriously interested in owning a Ferrari. I'm am not either - although I could start a campaign to fake #2 over the next year.
Has anyone toured the factory? Any thoughts on gaining admission? Thanks, Larry |

Your wife is right, she knows her stuff.
I have access to the factory but you would be too big to sneak past security in my lunch box. The only way I can get a tour of the road car factory for my family is when they do a family open day every other year. Don't let it spoil your trip as there are plenty of other places to visit all are closer to Bologna than Maranello (except the Maserati collcetion which is about 20mins past Maranello) Ducati Museum and Factory Lamborghini Family Museum Lamborghini Museum and Factory Tour Pagani Factory Tour Panini Collection, Largest Maserati collection in the world housed on an organic cheese farm PM if you want some contact details

Cap Ahab Jr.,
Thanks for the advice. Let me run your ideas past the boss. It certainly won't ruin my trip! I just thought that if I am in that part of the world, it might be a fun excursion. Thanks, Larry |

I was at the museum this spring and it was definitely worth a look. You also may want to check out the Ferrari rentals just adjacent to the museum parking lot. I drove a California for an hour in the hills around Maranello, but there are a number of models to choose from. I had my wife and daughter with me, so the choice was clear. What a hoot....not cheap, but when will I ever get to drive a Ferrari again.....in quite a spirited fashion? As Ahab says, the area is chock a block with all sorts of cool things to see for the "car guy". Have a great trip
