Honda CB360T Value?

Looking for some ideas on value. I work for a non profit in Seattle and a generous donor gave us this little beauty through our car donation program. I saw how nice it was and pulled it from the normal wholesale route. It's a 74 CB360T with 22,000 original miles. Well cared for and cosmetically in very good shape. We got a local shop that specializes in older stuff and does a lot of cafe conversions to donate a tune-up/fix whatever it needs kind of deal after we thew a battery in it, some new gas and got it running. It had been sitting for a couple of years.

They did a tune up, carb sync/clean, valve adjust, timing, new oil, lubed the cables, etc. It runs great now. I rode it today as did my donation center manager. They said it was in great shape, has good compression, etc. Very well cared for during its life. Everything works and the tires are in good shape, not old or rotted.

Our plan is to polish it up more, get a new seat made with a slight cafe style, put some clip on bars on it and a few other things and roll it up on the stage at our annual auction gala in October. It is all original now and we'll keep everything we pull off of it in case a purist is in attendance. This event usually does $700,000 in revenue and some well heeled folks attend. I am telling our fundraising staff I think it will go between $2,000 and $3,000 but I'm hoping for several drunk guys in their 50's who had one of these as their first bike to attend and maybe bid it up to $5,000 or so.

Any opinions on real and then slightly inflated night of the auction with several glasses of wine value? I can't wait to see this thing in all of its glory get sold.

It does look nice. 22000 miles is a lot of miles though. You better serve shots at the door if you want it to go for 5000 LOl These bikes are great beginner bikes, but i would look to get about 1200- 1600.

I agree that 22000 is a lot of miles. Although the bike appears to be in very good cosmetic condition, I would expect it to bring in the area of $1000-$1200. It is not really collectible except to the right buyer. Most guys buy bikes like that so they can chop them up and make them their own. Leave the seat as it is.

These bikes, in good condition, sell for less then a grand. Even one in like new, off the show room floor, condition wouldn't sell for $1500.00. Like a previous poster said, these really aren't collectible bikes. Better hope the bidders get drunk early and a bidding war starts if you hope to see $2k.

There is a decent market for these bikes on the west coast. The hipster kids put clubman bars on them and make them into cafe racers. A 360 is not a power house, but they make nice fuel efficient commuter bikes for city dwellers in Seattle/Portland/San Fran.

Approx $1,000 is a realistic value....Check completed Ebay sales to get the market....In college, i had the sister model CB-350.....Rode it everywhere, at 31,000 miles a piston came apart and it smoked like a Crop-Duster.....Did pistons and a came chain and ran it another 10K.

Later, these were a dime a dozen and bought my 1st wife a very low mileage one for $400. They were like early '50's Chev pickups: One on every block, not worth a thing, and then they all disappeared. Nice bike, but you'd spend more than $5K on booze to get a $5K bid.

I think the bike market is kinda soft (along with everything else). My friend just picked this up for $2k...

Here in Seattle, I think that bike will go for over $2k at a charity auction, no problem.

I know that will seem crazy if your in Kansas, but the pacific NW is a weird market. Everything is a bit more expensive here because of transport costs. And yes, people are very involved with the charities, and charity auctions do very well here. Our millionaires are interested in 70's Japanese cafe racers, not much of a market for choppers out here.

If it is truly perfect and original, I could see a collector paying somewhere close to 2k if you leave it original. If you slightly cafe it, the value IMO would be reduced to $1500 or less(assuming the bike presently is complete and original).

An all out extensive cafe build that is not cobbled "might" make it worth several thousand, but don't hold your breath.

IOW, IMO you should leave it original. If it were a ratty typical bike of that era, you might go from $500 to $1000 with a quicky simple cafe treatment, but ultimately due to the mass quantities produced this anemic common little bike is just not worth a lot of money.

I invested countless custom build hours (equivalent of several thousand dollars worth of skilled craftsman's time) and over $1000 in parts building my "fairly nice" CB450 cafe racer and I bet I would have a hard time finding someone to pay me much over $2000 for it.
