Can't believe noboby's mentioned Earth Wind and Fire. Yearnin' Learnin'. Afracano Medley. Verdine White is one of the most revered funk bass players of all time.

And then there's Brecker Brothers.

And Average White Band. Pick Up The Pieces. Cut The Cake.

Don't you guys know anything about funk?

East Bay Grease - Tower of Power

There's The Skunk, the Goose and the Fly. Knock Yourself Out. Back on the Streets Again.

That album is filled with funky music.

Also, my favorite song of all time -Sparkling in the Sand. With that great flugelhorn solo by Mic Gillette.

no votes for Prince and the Revolution?

Pesonally, I'd choose a James Brown or ParliFunkamentadelic tune, but my favorite is from The Meters.

Just because it has Funk in the title does not make it Funk.

Just because an artist or band has done one or a few Funk songs does not make everything they do Funk.

James Brown was the Godfather of soul but also an early Funk pioneer and so would make my list of Funk artists.

The Meters are a Funk band.

Parliament-Funckadelic-Clinton define the genre.

There is a distinct structure to Funk.

If you're not hittin it on the one then it ain't Funk.
