Okay, I suppose they're kinda big. Basses are big, though. And long. As you know. Sometimes, size matters. Are Thunderbirds heavy? I've gotten used to my Jazz, which is kinda heavy compared to the SG.

Yeah but that's not why we get the girls. It has more to do with the size of our equipment. Pay attention.

Yes heavy like wearing a bar stool by the end of a 3 hour night. Yes heavier than a Rick ..had a 4001 for a while. Actually it's not about the weight but the sheer length of the damn thing. You have to hold the neck up or it heads to the floor. This bird has had it's headstock busted years ago that way. It's a 34 1/2 " scale too. Nothing like the growl of this beast though. At least that's what everybody tells me.

I kinda thought there would be some neck dive. And yes, I find the heavy Jazz to be nicely balanced. "Organic," I'd call it.

Heavier than a Brick.....I mean Rick? Say it ain't so!

I've been playing it since 1980. My belt buckle is about to come through the front some day. I've worn a thumb hole above the neck pick up too. She's a war worn lady.

I played one of those for exactly (1) practice; I got tired of holding up the neck. Loved the tone and the look though; I'm just not that strong. The only thing that I remember being as neck heavy was an old aluminum neck Kramer that I played for a summer. These days, I stick to my crappy (but well balanced) Japanese P-J Fender I bought in 1988. |
