Estate sale/auction near me with quite a few guns - help with pricing.

Guns of Ahwahtukee Starts On 9/9/2011

Can anybody put target prices on the handguns? This is a bit unique in that they're going to auction the guns while the rest of the stuff is in a tag sale format.

They need to get those descriptions correct before you can price them. I didn't see a silencer or even a threaded barrel on that Spring 1911. If it comes with a silencer, then there's a little more than price at issue.

I'll probably go to the auction Saturday just to watch the fun, but my guess is that most of the guns will be selling at or above retail. Went to the estate sale this morning. Lots of guys buying the ammo, brass, and reloading equipment. I recognized the owner of the local gun shop there. He left with a cart full of stuff.

I see a suppressor with that SIG Mosquito. I wonder if it's real and if the auction house has any idea as to the legalities of selling such a thing. If ATF goons are in attendance, this will be a very serious arrest.

Looks like they have a nice little collection of baseballs. One of the boxed balls looks like an unused mid 90's World Series Ball. Some of those can be worth some bucks and go for peanuts at estate sales. Particularly if they got them signed. For instance, looks like the guy was a D-Backs fan. If they have a 2001 signed WS ball by Randy Johnson or Curt Schilling, it's worth a few hundred easy.

All the sports stuff sold this morning. All the baseballs were priced $10/each. I ran out to the garage, looked around for a few minutes and came back inside. Every bit of the sports memorabilia was gone.

Just about any official MLB baseball used or not is worth more than $10. I'd say somebody got a bunch of expensive stuff really cheap.

The HK USP still says it has a suppressor, though it's listed as a SIG Mosquito. Those gun listings are so mislabled, it's a joke. Did you get to see any of them today? I would be interested in some of the 1911's if they're great deals. I don't think I'm gonna go that far to see them though.

If tomorrow is anything like today, then I expect there will be lots of gun guys there. I'm guessing there will be no bargains in an auction setting. I'm going to try to get over there just to watch the fun. It's about 5 minutes from my house.

Well, after doing some reading it looks like they're legal on AZ.

Doesn't matter if they're legal in the state. They're subject to the NFA, require a Form IV, $200 tax stamp and about 3-4 mos. wait with passport photos and interview with chief LEO. Rest assured, ATF loves nothing more than going after the ignorant rather than the willful. Run afoul of this Class III process and you're looking at 10 yrs. in the joint. The most innocent of similar mistakes might get you 3 yrs. in a plea deal. But then there's a big gun show this weekend, so the jackbooted thugs might have their hands full, trying to bust elderly non-AZ residents, unknowingly breaking the law, buying guns from AZ sellers. Do not eff with this stuff. ATF runs stings every day on Backpage with Class III stuff. They don't want to bust bad guys. They want to bust people who didn't know they were doing anything wrong.

Well, the auctioneer said they'd had a couple of nice phone calls from ATF and had to pull the silencers. Most of the guns sold for $100 more than what they can be bought new for online.

Best deal was a monster Snap On tool chest full of tools for around $2400. I think the chest itself retails for twice that.

I'm very surprised ATF didn't try to make a sting out of it. But I'm glad no innocents got busted.

If your local GD showed up and carried away a cart full of stuff thenyou know it went CHEAP...

At the Rock Island auction a S&W prewar 38/44 Outdoorsman went for $4250 at an auction in WY the same gun in like condition went for $800.
