An Old Colt 1911

This weekend I was watching the Rock Island spoon auction. All I can say is that they did very well as prices were very strong. So what recession again?

The above was my favorite Lot in the whole auction of 3300 pieces..COLT 1911 Military SN 33. That was first day production and has the historical provenance to whom it was issued...This one proves that 1911's have arrived as a top tier collectable and has set a record for one of these...$109,450.00 with buyers premium. So next time you are looking at those old 1911's...

On day 3 of the RA auction the top 10 items brought in $650K

This what I picked up. A contemporary Lehigh School PA Long Rifle. by JW Heckert in 50 Cal. 46 inch barrel . Heckert is a member of the CLA artisan guild. He makes about 4 rifles a year. All for just over $1400 delivered. This had an estimate of 1K to 2K, so it fell well within a reasonable price range. RA is not the place to sell this kind of stuff, this stuff goes much better on the East Coast. I think the price was on the lite side.

I see well made PA & TN style Contemporary LR without Patch boxes or carving but nice wood go for $1200 to $1600 in ONE DAY on the CLA For Sale Board. I am thinking right about 2K is where this one belongs..

So how much to trick it out and turn it into a race spoon?
Does it eat hollow points?
Will my Aimpoint thingie magic just bolt on?

Isn't that funny. I've, in the past, suggested that I see firearms as tools, and how function trumps collectibility and so forth. Even I can see the blasphemy and humor in that post. I don't have much desire to own art or museum pieces, but with a little info, it is becoming easier to appreciate them.

Depends upon the condition..

98% + condition $3500 anyway

If it were a Super MAtch $10,000 give or take whether it is a rainy day or not.
