science fair plants?

Any recommendations on a plant to use for science fair stuff? Daughter wants to determine effect of different amounts of fertilizer on plants ... from none to enough to burn and kill.

IIRC from middle school beans were popular - but what kind?

castor beans can grow 12-15' high, although the seeds can be poisonous if ingested

Green beans work real well. I remember I tested the growth development of bean plants with various types of music. Classical grew the best and hard rock stunted the growth! Pop was in the middle. Go figuer - it was the 70's.

That's where they get Ricin- the poison way more lethal than Cyanide that the KGB used to kill some Hungarian radio broadcaster they didn't like. The famous umbrella dart gun thing that they jabbed into his calf a microscopic pellet filled with Ricin.

Maybe some Chemestry from plants would be more impressive to the judges? The other competetors might have some unfortunate accidents...
