Is it just me or has the rear end gone slightly "Aston Martinish"?

I really like the new design. The changes are subtle, but they make all the difference...particularly the flatter roof, big wheels and shorter overhangs.

The centre console is also great and finally puts much of the switch gear where it should have been long ago IMO.

Amazingly good really, and I didn't think the old 997 could look much better.

Really love the new back end.

30 years from now, will old guys be asking questions on Pelican about how to back date the 991 to get that 'classic' 997 look?

The back end seems like a natural upgrade and is great looking. Personally I'm happy to see the change. The cockpit of new cars always seems cramped to me. It's very nice but I always feel really closed in when I sit in newer model cars. In that respect I prefer the open feeling of my long nose inside.

It would look better in Fuchs.

You can get them! Fuchs makes them for the 997.

I noticed the traditional ignition key is gone replaced by an electronic fob.

I really like this new car. Quite of fan of the current 997, but there are some lines, especially at the rear of this car that I find most intriguing. The newest "911" - I think I would describe the cars over the last years as wonderful cars that are evolving beautifully.

Overall, I like it a lot. The back end is going to take some getting used to, though.

Here's another link with pictures and video on the road:

I'll definitely be looking for one when used prices become reasonable. I might even get a PDK if the wife would let me!

I guess I will finally forgive Porsche for the evolution to water pumpers. That is a good looking car.

The tail lights do look very trendy. The rear area seems to be going retro -> no rear reflector and the PORSCHE script as raised text.

I understand where they are going with the sleek design of the 'new' 911. Although it is starting to look like a inter-species car: Front end of the new Beetle, rear end of an Aston Martin, interior of a Ford Fusion.

That interior needs a serious re-working, however. The whole center tunnel is covered in CRAP. Get rid of it all. Too many buttons!

Don't forget that a lot of the buyers will spend an extraordinary amount of their steering wheel time locked in traffic commuting. Buttons are entertaining.
