cactus

About 35 years ago I was given a cactus in a styrafoam cup, it was about the size my pinkie is today. It has grown 3 branches and reached nearly 6 feet in height. Any idea how long these things live, and how tall can it get?

I am intrigued. Pics?

Pinkie 6 feet  maybe in Texas.

I'm telling you that thing was 2.5-3 inches tall when I got it, and has grown into 5'10" of meanness. And since I've had it it has lived its entire life in Pennsylvania. But its probably an immigrant.

Take a pic, put it on Pheonix Craig list...somebody may be willing to pay shipping. A landscaper there would love it. I've heard large cactus are worth $$$, depending on variety.

Post a pic.

Sounds like it's grown too fast to be a giant saguaro.

Not a saguaro.

Not sure what that is - organ pipe maybe? Looks like one I had in my front yard until the javelinas munched on it.

very cool... i had one for about 15 years, during which time it grew from about 2 inches to about 6 inches tall, but it was killed by rot when I went away to college. :(

Not as tall as yours and I started it from a stump, one of the segments about five years ago, I have repotted it twice. It's 4'6" from the pot. They do grow fast,
