stood on a leer jet today
- on the horizontal stabilizer to be exact
I went out to do a AWP training session at the cooperate hanger, walked onto each jet very nice interior, the maintenance guys wanted to know how I would safely get to a few positions on the plane safely and if I had any suggestions. I told them it would be nice to see a horizontal beam running the length of the plane with fall arrestors on trolleys. fun day-

Not sure..But i helped build the one and only Lear Fan Jet...Prop at the rear driven by two Turbins.
It was supposed to go into production in Ireland..Never did. Last I knew it was hanging in the Bowing Air Museum (Seattle)

Wear a full harness with shock absorbers. The shorter the lanyard the better. A 6 ft lanyard with a 2.5 ft shock absorber fully deployed and with a 10 foot fall you'll break your ankles on the pavement.

H - not realy a fan of the shock absorber type lanyard fro just that reason. i would rather use a device that limits the fall distance with a cintrifical break. much lower forces transfered to the user.

Fall restraint is always preferable to fall arrest.
Edit: oh, you mean a reel-type centrifugal force ratcheting lockup (Yoyo) I agree. Make sure you have a 5,000 lbs. Tie-off point.
