I agree a lot of guys are intimidated by strong willed women. My wife of 36 years doesn't work in the garage but I know if she wanted to she would be very good at it. She is one of the strongest people I know, just not physically. Once she is committed to something there is no stopping her. She has always put up with my love of cars.

Mine too but only because I keep her in some nice vehicles, that we could not afford to pay me to fix

foxpaws 09-18-2011 02:39 PM

Come on, I dropped my first engine on my '74 2.0 914 - to change the clutch. (I was a poor art student - had no money, but I was pretty good with my hands, so I figured, heck, why not?)

Just this weekend I replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses along with soft flushing and coolant change in my daily. And then I got dressed up, put on the stilettos and went out to a political 'do'.

Plus I can probably diagnosis your alignment problems by just looking at the wear on your tires... (it is what we do at work...)

American girls can work on cars just fine.

Laneco 09-18-2011 08:57 PM

More women are hanging out on Pelican - and for good reason.

The guys here have figured out that most games are more fun when the girls get to play, too! ;)

Yeah, you sit here and say you want a woman like this but a lot of guys question a girl that wants to do it. That why I just have kept quiet and read/research myself.

Be nice and open to girls who want to learn about cars. Don't make fun of them or tease them if they don't know something. Don't question them about why or ask "have you EVER worked on cars before?"

Give them credit that they even have the balls to attempt to tackle it. Ok, that's all. I'm just venting. Most guys on this PP forum are pretty nice. I have just gotten the opposite reaction on the street. And just for the record, this woman is my hero too. I would love to have a 356. Maybe I need to tap HER for her knowledge...

Ahmmm, I have one sitting in the garage a few miles away from you that you are free to train on and we do not even have to get frisky! :)

vash 09-19-2011 10:52 AM

that car is incredible.

my uncle told me: the only thing a man can do better than a woman is to write our names in the snow with pee.

tweezers74 09-19-2011 11:45 AM

Joeaska, OK, I am gonna invite myself over when I get a chance. I am traveling a lot though...

And vash, that is stinking hilarious! Your uncle sounds like a smart man! :D

When I see a female basketball player do a slam dunk, I might believe that...;)

No one will ever out iron and vacuum my wife, not even me! She is great!

We each have our place at home and know what it is.....

Nothing wrong with a strong women in the kitchen or laundry room.

Sending you an email.

Joe

EDIT, well was going to email or PM you but you have disabled this on your profile!

I am going to be in Gilbert this afternoon so get in your neck of the woods from time to time. I travel as well so know the feeling.

Drop me an email (my profile allows it!) and we should have you come to one of our local Porsche get-togethers and meet everyone.

Joe A

What? My PM thing is disabled? Hmmm... Didn't know that. Thanks for telling me. No wonder why the invitations for fixing cars, playing guitar, and riding motorcycles weren't pouring in. ;)

tweezers74 09-19-2011 01:24 PM

I'll fix it by tomorrow. Replying by phone. Check tomorrow to see if it works...

Yep, right click on your "tweezers" user name on any post and it comes up with your profile. then in the middle to upper left under your name are 4-5 tabs. One of them should be "contact info" and from there gives people the chance to PM, email and so on and yours is missing...

Just think of all those dates you missed out on! :)

Hawktel 09-19-2011 04:53 PM

Women outclass men in all the possible ways.

"Listen, son. Most women are damn fools and children. But they've got more range than we've got. The brave ones are braver, the good ones are better — and the vile ones are viler, for that matter." Its not me. its a quote from Heinlein.

The world is just lucky this one went for a 356, instead of something like a Saturn V rocket.

I checked it. It still works. You can send me a PM. It is still an option. So there wasn't all those date offers???? :( Ha ha! Proves my point... men are scared of independent women. :p

porsche4life 09-19-2011 09:26 PM

I would have sent one, but I didn't figure you'd take to kindly to a 20yr old that lives 1000miles away.....

I've learned to not get my hopes up...

911boost 09-19-2011 10:59 PM

Foxpaws, have I ever seen you at the monthly breakfast meeting in Lousiville? I'm pretty easy to spot as I have the only 964 turbo that ever shows up.

If you are ever there, say hi.

Oh, and look at my tires, they only seem to last about 7000 miles, :)

Bill

Dottore 09-19-2011 11:13 PM

Since we're celebrating the Pelican women in this thread, let me just say how much you are appreciated!

You add a much-needed touch of feminine wisdom, charm and civility to this place.

It would be a sadder forum without you.

1 I'm old
2 I'm married
3 I'm old
4 I am 2,000 miles away
5 what was 5, oh yeah I am forgetful

Bill - I went once last year - haven't made it this year... however - what weekend is it? I'll try to make it.

Also - I don't always drive the p-car - The caddy has to get his fair share of road time (well, actually the caddy gets more - it is the perfect road trip car - so every year it gets a 2,000 or more mile "road-trip" logged). However, the caddy is easier to spot.

And I love looking at tires ;), but wow - your mileage is like in NSX's range (not good, not good)...

And thank you Dottore - us girls can mix it up if we have to... but I certainly go for 'real' and not 'internet' if I am going to do that.

Were looking at the ultimate curbside consultation here, literally.

Oh Tweez, Dido Rick V

Make that 4,000 miles, and I am married.

What the the NXS eats up tires? I knew there was some reason I wasn't tracking one of those down. That and no money to buy one.

Cheers Richard

Flieger 09-20-2011 10:18 AM

7000 miles sounds alright to me. You should try Yokohama Advan A048s or some of the other sticky tires...

The wear rating on my Advans is 60. That's about how many miles they go. Just kidding.;)

Just clicked on your profile and still no joy. Just send me an email at: joe AT joea DOT com. Easier that way...

Flieger 09-20-2011 10:33 AM

It worked just now when I sent her a test PM.

I click on "tweezers74" and the new page comes up and there is NO contact page.

Where are you finding a PM icon to press to send a message?

Flieger 09-20-2011 05:37 PM

Click on her username and a drop down menu should appear below it. One of the lines is "send a private message to tweezers74", click on that.

tweezers74 09-20-2011 06:31 PM

Yay, flieger! You are so helpful! And it does work. I got your message. :)

Joeaksa 09-20-2011 07:13 PM

Got it. She does not have the "Contact info" tab on her profile, but up at the top found it.

Flieger 09-20-2011 07:21 PM

You do not have a contact info tab, either. At least not on the drop down menu. I am not really sure where you are looking, though.

I have. It's depressing. I'm not too picky about the "hot" part as long as it's "reasonable" but to be able to geek out with someone about anything again would be nice.

Used to?? USED to???

My GF can't even tell me what kinds of guitars I have.
Or how many. Which is probably a good thing, cause she doesn't realize when I come home with a new one:D

porsche4life 09-20-2011 10:27 PM

I used to play guitar too.... It happens, life got in the way.

Well that and I realized that I have NO rythm.... I still appreciate good guitars, and good guitar playing however.

you're gonna want to work on that, and I'd keep it a little closer to the vest when courting women. Yes, they'll figure it out fast, but keep working on it. it'll come.

porsche4life 09-21-2011 07:13 AM

I'm trying shaun......

And I'm not exactly courting you guys, so I'm safe to admit it here.... ;)
