Outdoor TV
I want to mount an outside TV in a dry area under the patio cover, my question is does some company manufacture a quick release mount so I can bring the tv indoors during bad weather??

Easier to put in a box or get one of the slip on covers designed for that purpose.

I had a TV under a patio cover for about 5 years. It went thru hurricanes, freezing temps, and high humidity without failing. Being in Cali, you prob won't have the extreme weather changes and expect you will be fine as long as you avoid direct watering.

How big is the TV? I'm guessing it would be on the large side.
Why not make a trestle like thing on wheels for it??? That way you can roll it into the garage on your own instead of having to dismount it from the wall. Anyways.... A regular wall mount for a TV might work. Some models have a hook and lock system.

Most of the flat panel TV mounts that I've dealt with (2 or 3 of varying sizes) have had a panel bolted to the TV that then attached to the mount that was fairly quick and easy to take off. One of them was just held in via gravity. I think the other 2 were held in via 1 or 2 set screws. I'd consider both essentially "quick release".

Ours is mounted in the corner of our patio area and stays outside from Spring through Fall. I bought a wall mount from Best Buy and there is one bolt connecting the TV to the mount. Takes less than 5 minutes to get the ladder, disconnect and bring in.

instead of using a socket or wrench to loosen the bolts to dismount the TV, you can also change it to a lever lock. Personally I would just take the bolts off with a socket. Get a cover from you good BBQ store, and be done with it.

Get a cheap tube tv off cragslist, a pawn shop, etc. Heck, get a few so you have a stock. Plan on replacing every so often...

I get wall mounts from monoprice, they also have great prices on cables: Wall Mount Brackets
Most of the simple mounts(non swivel) have a channel that mounts to the wall, and the brackets on the TV hook on. It only takes a few minutes to lift the TV off and on. |
