OT how cool is Michael

Caught the interview after the Fromula 1 race ...Montoya was all pissed off...Michael was pretty cool about it and I loved when he said he felt the penalty was really was too strict. No wonder he's the king. Almost reeked of NASCAR with the thought in some racin some rubbin happens! From last to 3rd just gives testimony to his prowess!

Yeah,

You've got to admire the tactics he uses. I mean that "blocking" technique is very thoughtful, not to mention illegal, yet nobody seems to pick him up on it. He relys on drivers to panic and back down to give him the corner, or incur the wrath of the great Michael Schumacher

The rules state that you can defend your line only once, I think. The way he, and teammate Barichello (in Melbourne, Australia) behave is reprehensible. I guess it's going to take an accident, caused by a Ferrari, where someone is KILLED to open people's eyes.

I can't believe Montoya was given a stop-n-go penalty for the contact with Michael when NOTHING was done in Australia or to Michael.

It's too bad F1 is marred with these kind of problems but it is nice to see what Toyota has done so far and the resurgence of Benneton/Renault.

BTW, Ralf and Jenson must have been running on fumes for as long as they stayed out for their first stint.

Sorry, Doug, I was meaning Barichello's antics in Melbourne, Australia (Round 1, 2002 Season) and M. Schumacher's effort earlier today.

I just watched the race (it's a delayed broadcast here.. ) and I still can't figure out what Montoya did to earn that penalty!

Adam -

I also agree that something must be done with those Ferrari drivers. Funny isn't it that when Ruben's was with Stewart he didn't drive like that so it must be Michael's influence.

Also, what did you think about those Jordan's ? Eddie must be beside himself with those two !!!!!

Yeah, I wouldn't want to be a certain Mr. Sato right now.

People have been saying for some time now that one day Schumi would pull his infamous "Shumacher Chop" stunt on the wrong guy (i.e someone like Montoya or Villeneuve), and they wouldn't lift and cause a massive shunt. That wasn't really a big crash today, as both cars involved finished on the podium, but I hope Schumacher Senior remembers not to mess with Montoya like that next time.

I think JPM gave Schumi enough room through the first corner. It wasn't a lot of room, but these guys aren't exactly driving limousines.

It looks like this will be an interesting season. Like Murray Walker used to say, "Anything can happen in F1, and it usually does!".

Those in power admit F1 is very dependent on Ferrari's involvement. This is not the first (or even the 50th) time Ferrari and their opponents have been treated differently under similar circumstances, in what appears to be another puzzling F1 ruling. In my opinion Montoya did not deserve the penalty. It appeared that Michael ran wide at the same time Montoya was leading the Ferrari on the outside of the first corner. Montoya was consistently faster than Michael and had the fastest lap. Michael only made 3rd because Button slowed down by 10 seconds in the last two laps. Having said that, Michael has certainly matured (ever since his accident at Silverstone two years ago) and deserves to be regarded as one of the greatest drivers ever. He could be described as a flawed genius, as most are - just look at Senna. Montoya will likely inherit his crown.

Yeah, Eddie Jordan and Ron Dennis can't be too happy today (with Sato and the Mercedes reliabilty).
