I saw a Flachbau today.

The 1994 3.6 964 Turbo S Flachbau.

IMO, the most mysterious 911 model that exists.

I was walking out of work today, and i the middle of the street, stopped at the crosswalk that I was walking across, was a black on black Flachbau. Everything about it looked genuine, although it did have never wheels- the strange 5 spoke ones first found on the 997 Carrera S. I was in shock.

This was actually my 3rd Flachbau I've seen to date. I've seen two others at car shows. There are only 39 US detined cars built. 2 were stolen, 1 recovered but stripped and 1 never heard of again. At least 2 others left the country.

It's a very, very unique car and pictures don't do that 968 front end justice. In person I think they are one of the sexiest 911s ever produced.

Here are some pics of the last Flachbau I saw, in St. Louis:

I can appreciate it being rare, but I prefer the looks of the regular fenders.
The previous model slantnose is nicer IMO.
For the 964 (965) model it does not look as good. A 964 Turbo S Speedster Flachbau would be even more over the top....especially in pink...

Yes, it is a bit odd.. and the factory 80's slantnose cars are gorgeous- but the Japanese 3.6L Turbo S Slants are the best:
http://www.flachbau.com/VI-X83-Japan/470291.html

the cool looks of the pop up headlights with the nice and smooth 964 bumpers. I want one. I'm thinking of building one.

I agree, the Japanese version with the more classic looking fenders is much nicer!!
This one i like very much!
And man oh man, do I loooove those seats! Are those the one with the ribbed shells like the RS models? Those are great!

Never paid too much attention, but now that I look, I've seen a couple around here.

I think they are always advertised as "rare" and still nobody wants them. Sure, blue interiors in brown cars are rare too ... that doesn't make them desirable.

I don't like the 80s slant noses, but I'd take one of those over the flachbau 964 any day.

i'm not a fan of that look. To me, it looks like a 911 that ran under the back of a truck.

You can see where it was heading with the next model. Evolution in action.

I've seen pictures of these and always thought they were a body "kit." Thank you for showing me that they are indeed a quite rare model.

I hate the intake on the quarter panel and I've always hated 993 mirrors (yeah, I know, burn the witch at the stake), but I'm kinda diggin' the front end. Sort of splits the difference between the old style and the 997 quite nicely.

If I were Jerry Seinfeld, two Porsches that would be on or near the top of my list would be the '73 RS.........and the '97 Turbo S. 450 factory air-cooled ponies.

I saw this one at the LA Airport Hilton last March for the Lit show. It had about 3000 miles on it. I was told the owner was pretty connected to the factory/dealerships. It was stunning!

Yes it was at Frontenac, but it was about 3 years ago. I believe I recall a friend of the owner telling me either the owner owned more than 1 Flachbau or had owned otehr Flachbaus in the past and this was the 2nd or 3rd or something..

I love the classic 911 long hood or short, bellows bumper or not, but I'm a closet slant nose guy, and the peak of the slant nose (as far as street cars go) is what I've always called the slope nose. The 968 lights look great.

Pretty nice.

Although, at that price I'd rather have a "normal" `94 Turbo 3.6 in prisitine condition AND an `07/`08 GT3 RS.

Oh, I lust for a 964 turbo. That's the only car I'd consider unloading my 993 for.
