REM Calls It Quits

I am so sad. I guess all good things do have to come to an end. :(

R.E.M.HQ: HOME

hmm, like some of their stuff, not a huge fan, still, don't understand why bands that have been together as long as they have do the breakup thing.

Just go on hiatus and work together whenever the mood strikes.

gtc 09-21-2011 11:42 AM

They're still alive? ;)

emcon5 09-21-2011 11:42 AM

R.E.M. was still together? Haven't heard anything from them in damn near 20 years.

VaSteve 09-21-2011 11:49 AM

Weren't they supposed to break up on 12/31/1999?

Years from now they will reform and tour. Too many other bands have done that.

Good. Not that I'm happy to see them go. Love the band. But there are way too many bands out there with 60 and 70 year olds playing rock'n roll. It's sad, really. I loved REM in the 80's and 90's. But some day you need to move on.

The new year 2000 episode of South Park showing Rod Stewart was classic.

It might only have been topped by the "Timmy" episode where all the kids turns out to have ADD, they are put o Ritilin and that makes them like Phil Collins.

True store, one of our entertainers )a Rod Stewart Tribute Artist ) was at a event where MTV was filming Behind the Scenes" or some other show like that, Rod Stewart was there, saw him & invited him to come hang out. Well, after Steward headed back, before Kenny could,, Rod Stewart's Manager grabbed his arm and told him

NO
then went on to tell Kenny

If you are in any pictures with Rod, you will nevr work on stage again, the last thing he needs is to be seen next to a young Rod Stewart..

And yes, he really does make a living, a good one at that, singing & acting like Rod Stewart, he has performed World wide..

Sorry to see 'em call it a day. Caught 'em when they were just breaking out of the Athen's scene at JU (were you there Byron?) back in the mid-80s and still basically unknown.

Rem was the soundtrack of a part of my youth, and I still listen to the old stuff from time to time. We just listened to life's rich pagent a few weeks ago while working, and for a moment , I was 16 again. Truly talented bunch of guys, although did not really care for some of the more recent stuff.

Yes, and a girlfriend of mine, who was a cheerleader for GA 1st turned me on to them when they were still playing bars in GA.. So I have been a fan for a long time http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...eys/gitaar.gif
I too feel sad that they calling it quit...:(
After all, the Stones have been together for close to 50 years:eek:

Long time HUGE fan but haven't kept up or heard anything new so I guess I'm not that too sorry to hear this - those guys will still play their music here and there as all ex-bandmates tend to do and their body or work speaks for itself and is their legacy.

I have 9 of their CD's - plus the "Monster" picture book. :p

My all time fav. album is:

fables of the reconstruction was my personal fave. Saw them many times and always came away shiney and happy.
