Messerschmitt 3 wheeler

I am looking to buy and restore a Messerschmitt 3 wheel car.
Looking for a KR175 or 200.
Has anyone ever owned or driven one?
Just some feedback on what they are like.

Like bumper cars, I'd say.

I found one for sale here
Messerschmitt KR175 for sale | Hemmings Motor News

I'd imagine it's not something I'd want to drive around outside my neighborhood... I'd be worried that people in trucks or SUVs wouldn't even see it.

I run the website for the UK club Messerschmitt Owners Club - Home We have quite a few members from down under.

My dad has had many of them since the 60s.

I am too tall to drive them (6'7") but he does. They are noisy, will do about 60mph in good tune, and if it's sunny - you *will* get sunburned in one.

We have parts available for virtually everything for the KR200. The KR175 is extremely rare and stuff is unobtainable really.

Too funny. We had a lady come by the shop last week inquiring about getting some paint work done on some cars. She then opens the trailer and there were two of those MS "micro cars" in there. Coolest things. I had never even heard of them before. Apparantly there is a huge museum collection of them here just south of Atlanta.

The guy that used to be the snap on rep here found one in a barn and restored. I think he sold it into Europe though.

I have a buddy who has his own microcar museum in So Cal. He mainly into Isettas, but he does have a bubble top MS. He's probably 6'3 an can fit in it, but his biggest complaint is that they are very hot! He hosted a microcar show, and a convertible MS drove by - it looked VERY cool!

Not a very good shot - but I thought it was a cool (though loud) car.

This is one of the coolest "classic" cars out there.
Saw one on my commute to Uni almost every day in the late 80s, obviously being used as a daily driver.
Excellent choice. The Classic Throttle Shop in Sydney had / has one for sale (but $$$).

How about using one of these as an engine / gearbox donor?

.

That'll surprise the backwards baseball cap brigade in the WRXs.
