"Night By Night" - Steely Dan video

I was in my first year of college - 17 - when "Can't Buy A Thrill" was first released.

Bought every album they ever did plus the solo stuff.

So much incredible music by "The Dan"...here's a good one - I like the still photos in the video - Skunk Baxter! :

Cool vids. I just took my wife to see Steely Dan a few weekends back in Philly.

I am not a big fan, but she loves them. We were third row--close enough to see Fagan spit during songs.

I have to say, they sounded great.

"Kick off your high heeled sneakers, its party time.
They are some of the finest studio musicians that never wanted to tour. I started listening to them in 1974! Had all the albums. Pretzel Logic was my fav. IMO, their radio hits were never their best work except for FM.

That's not Walter! (on Pretzel Logic)

Great video, though

I was a freshman in HS when the album was released.

Five years later I was driving thought the Rockies in a '71 2002 listening to the opening of 'Do it Again' on cassette and thinking all was right with my world.

It was.

I've always LOVED those old 2002's! Buddy of mine had one in the early 80's and I remember riding with him one day going down International Speedway Boulevard (ISB) (used to be called Volusia Ave.) - aka US 92 - which runs east - west past the DIS [Daytona International Speedway] and is about 6 lanes wide and he was working the traffic like a race at Laguna Seca....that car maneuvers like a motorcycle - maybe even better!

Good Stuff

One of my all time favorite bands.

Analyzed the lyrics to all the tunes in college - every song a pretty wild and cool story; something you can easily overlook as you get caught up with everything else going on in the songs.

Nostatic - your band sounds great!

I still think Steely Dan was just as creative and talented as Frank Zappa. Argue amongst yourselves...

Zappa sucks compared to the marital aid.

Thanks, that was a fun gig. The audio is a board feed that was pretty good though the engineer was a bit confused by the talkbox setup.

Everyone should have a fez.

Actually that isn't an SPL meter. It is my Zoom H4n recorder that I had set at the front of the stage. There was a group of young kids up playing/dancing at the edge of the stage and a little girl decided she wanted to check out my recorder. The security guy very nicely took it from her and put it back on the stage. Sadly the recording was toast anyway as I forgot to put the windsock on the mics so I got a lot of breeze noise.

That said, there is a lot of security at the park (it is right across the street from my office building). They have lots of rules...

I thought the same thing...what a pleasure it would be to take the kids to the park and hear Todd's band.

Somehow, I thought Todd might be a Dan fan with a name like nostatic. Very nice tight sound with with Home At Last.
