Would you drive to work if you lived 350 yards away?
I need a reality check to see if I'm crazy.
If you lived 350 yards from your work (door to door), in California (almost always somewhat sunny and 70 degrees), would you drive to work? Other factors (if they matter) Your car stays in the garage at home, but would have to sit in an open lot all day at work. If you drive, it's 700 yards, b/c walking is a more direct route. You get off work at 4 so you don't have to walk at night. Ultra safe neighborhood. |

How fat are you in this scenario?

350 yards is less than 1/8 mile, it would take about 2 minutes to walk.
Driving there would actually be bad for a car because it would never get up to temp. |

I just plotted that on a map of my neighborhood for perspective. Me, no. That would be insane. That is where my kids busstop is. Some of the mamas would drive.

the only way I would drive that was if it was piss pouring rain and I could park under a cover and not get soaked - otherwise does the movie Wall-E come to mind

No, I would walk, absent truly awful weather or a physical disability.

I can't see any scenario where I would drive that.

If the girls at the office got really horned up when they saw me pulling up in my F350 diesel dually...I'd drive, but that doesn't happen.

Once I lived in the apartment above the shop, I was always late. I moved 30 miles away and I was always early..........

Reminds me of the scene in LA Story where Steve Martin jumps in his car and "paddles" over to the house next door.

walk, rollerblade, skateboard, etc....
No, it's very unlikely that I'd drive to work if I lived that close.

I routinely walk (or run) ~5mi, give or take, as part of my daily commute. Better question: how much of a pay cut would I be willing to accept to live 350yds from my job?

Even getting the bike out would be a hassle.
