Windows 8 is mostly centered about tablets and touch screens, and is in development, and will be for months to come, and Win7 is a low-hassle soln - so, I wouldn't worry too much about Win8.

you can check out various machines at the Microsoft store in Bellevue square. -I dare you to drive the diamond T there :D ...scaring all of the soccer-moms.

Get this.

Newegg.com - Jetway HBJC600C99352W-BWM Mini-Top/OS Atom Dual-Core 525 Intel NM10 NVIDIA ION2 WiFi Remote Control with 320G HD Mini Barebone

I started telling my relatives to get these about a year ago.

Its dirt cheap, runs 2 monitors, has a 1080p if you want it to run video, wireless, or RJ45, and has windows 7. Oh and the card reader you wanted. The 1.8 duel core will work for almost anything you want to throw at it, and its got 3USB, for a printer, keyboard, mouse, whatever.

That's an Atom though, I wouldn't bother with anything but an i5 or i7. Atoms are slow, even the dual core ones, have a couple in the office.

He is a user. He wants to surf the web, watch hulu, or Netflix, Print out his directions to where ever, read pelican, email, and do some word processing.

All that the Atom 1.8 can handle fine. Add in that you almost can't hear it, its small, and again, bloody cheap, its a deal.
