You have no idea . . .

Not really a direct answer but a great perspective

Achieving you childhood dreams.

Great idea... but as for me... I'm a professional idiot... I can't give up my job... I have cats and a wife that depend on me.

Without us, to whom would the smart people compare themselves?

imcarthur 10-13-2011 02:39 PM

I am - at least - a happy idiot. I accepted my position in the sphere of life some time ago & I am content.

I've often thought that it would be grand to be an idiot. I assume that idiots are really happy because they just don't know any better.

- Orbit the earth in a spacecraft.
- Know my kids/grandkids are truly happy and able to fend for themselves.
- Know I'm leaving the world better than I found it and it's better off for my being here.
- Get to a point where I don't have to spend every waking moment worrying about money. I guess, "getting to a point where I can live reasonably simply and reasonably comfortably" goes hand-in-hand with that one.
- Know I've found - and preserved - true love.
- Take my perfectly restored 911 on an epic cross-country trip for several weeks, then toss the keys to a deserving relative as a surprise.
- See my parents enjoy their retirement.
- Live on a sailboat someplace warm for a while.
- Build a successful business for myself (working on this one now... I'd like to get to a point where I can get it self-sustaining and cut the cord and work for myself, create some jobs/opportunities for others, create wealth and be a real contributor rather than just working for someone else...)

Response: Assumption that you had dreams as a child. What do you do if you did not have any dreams? You just merely existed. Still thinking...

Kim,

Did you exercise today? Hmm?

I did. I also did it Tuesday. Plan to do it on Saturday too. I am doing the Galloway program running/walking. So far so good. Plan to do double the length on Saturday.

I really want to play guitar on an album. Just one track would be fine, doesn't have to be lead rhythm is fine. Being a rockstar would be even better ;D

Normy 10-13-2011 04:56 PM

Fly a 747.

N!

Finding the Fountain of Youth is right up there.

I do plan on traveling a lot once I retire.

Not hiked, but biked and driven the roads. Nice having Mulholland Highway, Latigo Canyon, Stunt Road, Piuma, etc. right in one's figurative backyard. :)

Win the lottery BIG TIME and make sure my family never has to worry about money ever again.
Buy cars and fix them up the way I want to, then resell them. I get great satisfaction doing car projects like that. Thats the way I did my Carrera a few years back.

I will say this... it is one advantage of having ADHDLMNOP, self diagnosed... You do get to experience a ton of different highs because one gets bored with things. I've run a 911 on a race track, (and crashed), learn to sail, built wooden ship models, taken long motorcycle trips where it is just you and your machine, owned & fired beautiful firearms, had awesome kinky sex, (that NEVER gets old ;) ), lived in 6 different states and learned those cultures, built stone walls, learned landscaping, trained for & run a half marathon, owned awesome dogs.
When I am sitting in a wheelchair at an old folks home I will have my memories of things I did and can say to myself I've experienced life.

Not your favorite fan Grasshopper but yeah a good thread.
