SCAM After SCAM After SCAM ....

I'm not sure that I'm the only one noticing the almost epidemic increase in this issue lately, but I can barely scroll through the Porsche ads on Craigslist, Kijiji or sometimes even e Bay without seeing glaring evidence of attempted scam, after scam, after scam. It's very annoying.

There seems to be a rampant proliferation of false advertising, false pricing, false technical information, false seller information, return perpetrators, etc. etc. etc.

What the hell is going on? Is no one from these organizations taking responsibility to police this?

Or, will we just continue to see a crooked free for all moving forward?

You mean that RS for sale that only has a bid up of $8200 is fake?

It's the way of the world these days. Everyone is a scamster.

I have plumbers who come by, tell me they don't have the part, and charge me $200.- for the 10 minute visit because that is their "minimum" charge.

"Rape and pillage" seems to be the motto of every tradesman you care to name. No one works honestly for a decent wage anymore. Everyone wants the big paycheck right now.

Car dealers are no different. Don't get me started on mechanics. Lawyers are completely corrupt in their billing practices. And I have had more shyte meals in expensive restaurants lately, than I care to remember.

It really is the way of the world.

Wall street and the politicians have taught them well. And think about it folks, we don't really know how much they REALLY TAKE. Pensions and health care for life. ETC.
It's time for O.U.S.A. Occupy the USA. It's going to take violence to repair what they have destroyed.

I forget where I read it, but the phrase "Socialized risk, privatized gain" really seemed to nail it for both the wall street situation and my crappy job.

"Socialized risk, privatized gain"

Sounds like Noam Chomsky - his stuff is GREAT!

It's the truth. We need to fix it.

"socialize the losses, privatize the profits"

I think that was the original quote.

It's what some president or other accused the banking industry of doing a long time ago—I seem to recall.

Just wondering but why would you agree to pay a plumber $200 to come to your house and tell you they can't make the repair??

I charge a min of $50 to come and then waive that fee if customer agrees to have repair performed
If I told my customers it is a min of $200 to come out I would not be in business very long

Just sayin but I think there is a little more to that story

It bugs the **** out of me when people say Plumbers are con artists,I think home owners believe that if they pay me whatever to fix something that that money goes right in my pocket

The overhead in the plumbing business is extremely high and the cost of running a business in todays world crazy

For example may fuel bill alone is $7000 a month and I operate a small family business with two trucks on the road

That's a pretty broad brush, Dottore.

That is what plumbers charge in this town. I agreed to pay the minimum charge because I assumed he would fix the problem for that price. But he just left again because he didn't have the part and charged the $200 anyway. That's the way things work here.

Yes. Sometimes a broad brush is best.

You are the semi-interesting guy that no one wants to sit next to at a dinner party.

I realize that being the Plumber that I am, I should not be able to live in the 4000 sq ft house I have in a nice neighborhood nor should I own 3 nice cars (including my 911) nor should I be a member of the country club that I am

Yep us tradesmen should be in the trailer park where we belong

The latest one I've encountered is a call from a credit card company. They leave a message saying they have an urgent message for me regarding my account. I call the number they leave, and the "urgent" message is that I could get a better interest rate if I switch to their card. I started to her them how misleading the message was and the B%&#$ hung up on me.

I emailed on a Craigslist ad for some E36 seats. They were dirt cheap and the sellers email was from xxxxxx@yandex.ru

xxxxxx@yandex.ru? I'm thinking Russian scammer and don't reply. A few days later, I decide to take a chance and reply. He gives me a local number to call. Give him a call today, get directions, meet up and he's a good guy after all!
